I got a seat top Shiatsu Massager for Christmas this year. I’m 15 and I love it! I don’t have back problems or anything And my back rarely hurts. I just love the feeling of massages. I was wondering if having a back massager that I use often ok at my age. Will it hurt me or affect my future? Will it increase my chances of having back problems in the future? Is it unhealthy at my age? Thanks Btw I’m a guy

Ultrasound for horses…?

Is there a portable Ultrasound Machine that could be transported by a vet to a farm or someway to detect a very early mare pregnancy. Like in the first month.

Most larger, specialist, equine vet practices will have a mobile ultrasound machine.

After a mare is bred, waiting to determine if the mare returns to heat before having her examined for pregnancy may appear to be a way to save money by avoiding “needless” pregnancy evaluations, but may ultimately result in greater costs. The use of ultrasound enables vets to diagnose pregnancy at an early stage, 12 to 14 days after ovulation. Ovulation usually occurs approximately one day before the mare goes out of heat. The advantages of early pregnancy diagnosis are numerous, whereas the disadvantages are negligible.

By knowing that a mare is not pregnant before the time she is due to come back into heat, plans can be made to prepare for another breeding. Although the length of time a mare is in estrus or “heat” varies somewhat between mares and according to the time of the year, the length of time a mare is out of heat is fairly consistent, approximately 15 days. By checking a mare for pregnancy two weeks after she goes out of heat, if she is not pregnant, plans can be made to either take her back to the stallion for rebreeding or prepare for another shipment of semen for artificial insemination. This time frame allows for arrangements to be made before she comes back into heat, thereby providing ample time so that the next cycle is not missed and valuable time is not lost. This advanced warning is also helpful to the manager of the stallion who may need to work the mare into the breeding schedule. If pregnancy examination is delayed until 18 or 21 days after breeding, the mare may be too close to ovulation (or even just past ovulation) for rebreeding during that cycle.

Because the length of time between heats is fairly consistent, if a mare is showing strong signs of heat at the time of pregnancy examination 12 to 14 days after the last breeding, it is an indication of some problem causing her to “short cycle.” Short cycling, or coming back into heat before expected, may result from a uterine infection. Uterine infections cause the release of a hormone, prostaglandin, that results in a mare returning to estrus. This will result in her having a shorter than normal interval between estrus periods. Mares that come back into heat before they are due should be examined for abnormal conditions of the reproductive tract, including poor conformation, urine pooling, and endometritis, which could be responsible for the abbreviated diestrus. Likewise, examination for pregnancy in late diestrus may reveal fluid in the uterus, another abnormal condition that should be further evaluated.

The most important reason for early pregnancy examination is probably the detection of twins. Mares rarely carry twins to term successfully. Twin pregnancy usually ends in abortion or dystocia (problems giving birth), either of which can result in a delay in getting the mare rebred. Before the arrival of ultrasound, twinning was a major cause of abortion in mares. Now, with the use of ultrasound, the incidence of abortion due to twins can be avoided.

i saw a portable ultrasound machine promoted online claiming it works for dark circles. also had heard using ultrasound treatments as dark circles cure years ago. does it really work?how does it work?

I wanted to make a clone of my laptop’s hard drive on my portable Maxtor OneTouch Mini III 100 gig hard drive so I used this program called CloneDisk to do it. I already had 10 gigs of music on the portable hd but I didn’t think my songs would deleted if I did the cloning, but unfortunately they were. Is there a way I can do some kind of unformat or restore on the portable HD to get it back to how it was before I did all that? Thanks

I’m moving, and I’m trying to pare stuff way, way down. I’m taking our most essential stuff (clothes, a few books and kitchen things) in my car. My partner’s driving down a truck about a month and a half later. We need a place to sleep during that month and a half. A place to sleep that’ll fit in my car, that I can buy online and have shipped, or that I can easilly locate in our new city. I’m hoping to spend $100-150–and I’m hoping to find something that doesn’t totally suck to sleep on.
We have a lovely bed… a lovely big bed that won’t fit in the trunk of my Le Baron. So it’s just a temporary thing–and a think to trot out for future guests.

I say an air bed. I have a twin size Aero Bed w/ an attached pump. Deflated it is about the size of a rolled up sleeping bag if not smaller.

Also, if you use Ebates, you can get a cash rebate on your online purchases. You can get a 1% through Wal-Mart, 3% at J & R, and 2% at Circuit City where I found the best deals on Aero Beds w/ pumps! Not a lot, but still a discount!

Do either have benefits that aren’t addressed by the other? A chiropractor said that percussion massager are highly under-rated, what does that mean?

the shiatsu massagers that i have seen are rather rough, even to the point of causing pain.

Help! Huge knots in my back.?

For several years, I have had these huge knots in my back. One in my right shoulder, one about 4″ lower, and one about 2″ lower than that. I have been to a chiropractor(4 sessions). This did not help. I also have a huge numb spot on that side of my back too. Sometimes it tingles and itches. It has never really caused me much pain. When you push on the bottom two knots, it hurts the top knot in my shoulder. They seem to be connected. If I use my shiatsu massager on the knots, it seems to make them larger, and it makes my spine hurt, and gives me a headache. I takes days for the swelling to go down. What do I do?
Also I forgot. My legs have been aching really bad lately too.

Stop doing massages! This could be making it worse. I have had problems with my right shoulder for years and am about to have to get surgery on it…mine’s a little different then yours but I can understand. I would make an apt. with a orthopedic surgeon. This doesn’t mean you have to get surgery, but they can run tests, get you some medicine, maybe some physical therapy, tell him everything, this could be serious

Be sure it’s unplugged. Then make a wet not drippy paste of vinegar and baking soda. Apply it..Put a rag over it and put it in a sealed plastic bag overnight.

The next day wipe it down – the vinegar and baking soda will break down the food. You want it to stay moist through out a minimum of 8 hours.
