Pulse Pain
Why is it that my mom has very strong heart pulse and sore and pain on her arms?

Recently my mom has sudden strong heart pulses and sore and pains in her right arm (not sure if it’s related). She went to a doctor for a check up and the doc said that if the heart pulses too hard it can die out or something ( can’t really remember). But the doctor wasn’t too sure what kind of problem it can be. So I’m hoping if anyone is familiar with this symptom and can tell me what this is.

PLZ anyone help

& ty in advance~

Sounds like your mom has heart palpitations. If the dr. can’t figure it out take her to a cardioloigst I’m sure he/she can do a workup and offer her solutions to her problem. I know caffeine, smoking, drinking, exercising causes palpitations too.

I’ve been having a pulse in pain in in the back of my head…PLEASE HELP ME!?
lately ive been having this pulse of pain in my head. i’ve noticed it for the pass 2 or 3 days and sometimes it comes and goes or it comes and stay till i massage it. sometimes when it comes there’s a sharp pain. i call it a pulse because its like a pulse or heartbeat. please tell me what i should do. it has only been coming a couple of times today and im working on getting an appointment with the doctor. the pulse of pain its located in the back of the left side of my head, close to the ear and locate where the hair is. im 12. please help me. PLEASE AND THANK YOU! :’)

I would really appreciate it if you answer. :’)

what you have to be experiencing is a tight muscle in your neck. when that happens you can get the sensation of the pulse going through it. Here is how to release your neck so that will stop:
Back of head:
Place your hands behind your head and put your fingers on the muscles on your neck. Press a moderate pressure onto them and hold it. Now relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. After 30 seconds, slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Then release the pressure but hold your head there for one minute longer.

i’m looking for a Back Massager?

i’m looking for a back massager, the type that sends electrods to the pain

You are looking for “Tens Unit”? this is used in Physical Therapy offices for pain or muscle spams, to decrease them.
For that you will need a prescription from a Dr. not a Physical Therapist, PT.
Why not try a Massage Therapist?

Neck Traction
About herniated disks in the neck?

I’ve just received word that I have 2 herniated disks in my neck and 2 bulging disks. I was told by a neursurgeon that even if I didn’t require surgery I wouldn’t be able to lift over 20lbs for the rest of my life. The kicker is I’m 23 years old and I’m an athelete in mixed martial arts and proffessional wrestling. I have the info from my MRI if anyone needs that and I’ve already been to numerous websites. I guess what I’m lookin for is an answer without a dead end. I’ve been through traction and therapy which I’m still going through. I would really appreciate any feed back that would lead to treatment and get me back into sports again

The neck obviously is a very sensitive location to have disk problems. Even without wrestling and martial arts you are potentially in for significant problems during the rest of your life.

One thing I don’t quite understand is “herniated” and “bulging”. They are the same thing. Did you mean ruptured and herniated? Of did the doctor mean that the “herniated” disks were more bulged than the bulged disks?

Often times when a person has multiple disk problems doctors will not do procedures that they’d consider if it were only a single disk. For instance fusion of the vertebra is a possible action, but if you fuse too many vertebra you severely restrict motion of the head.

As tough as it may sound, there are career ending injuries. There are injuries that our current medical practice cannot treat and fix.

I have serious lower back problems that started when I ruptured a disk. I have had surgery, but it did not fix the problem, and I cannot even golf anymore, much less kickbox or do what professional wrestlers do.

You certainly have to be concerned about becoming the next Christoffer Reaves and you need to ask pointed questions of your doctors concerning the potential for damage that could lead to complete paralysis.

That all being said I have a Brother-In-Law who has had two neck surgeries, one fusion, the other to clean up spurs and chips. Both led to relief from the symptoms he was having at the time. He has give up sports (basketball) following the second surgery.

I’m going to add a few more comments. First, I developed my back problem in my upper 40′s. I had a cousin who had a back fusion in her 30′s that turned out alright so far. My dentist had a back disk removed 20+ years ago (no fusion or anything. Doc said it’d fill in with scar tissue) and he is in constant pain now.

The internet is a great place for interaction. I did extensive searching to find “cures.” In doing so you find people who were not cured. One thing I discovered was that people who had failed back fusions were living a hell on earth. The pain they were in every minute of the day was unbelievable. Depression was constant and severe amongst this group. I came to the conclusion that fusion was an absolute last resort because a failure effectively ended your life. Because of the lesser amount of weight supported, I suspect neck fusion failures are fewer. I do, however, suspect that the decision for a fusion ends your wrestling and MMA carear.

The other think is that often time heals. Some of these injuries can take a couple of years to heal. Even my back is better now than it was 2 years ago. I still get sensations in my feet and legs, but I have not had it completely go out on me in that time period, and I have been able to do non-jaring activites, even chainsawing, without severe aftereffects. Your’s may heal by itself to the point where you can resume activity but it could take significant time.

Good luck, I hope it turns out for you.

Pneotrack home traction unit?

My physical therapist wants me to have one of these for my neck problems. All I can find is the over the door kind that holds water. Med-South doesn’t carry them or know where I can get one. Any ideas, other than ask my therapist? Who is out of town?
The discription my therapist gave me was that it fit like a neck brace and I could pump it while watching tv.

Does it have to be a “Pneotrack” (which I have never heard of). The Saunders traction unit is probably the most recognizable home pneumatic traction unit…readily available by any search engine.

How can I relieve the tension on the right side of my neck/shoulder area?

The right side of my neck and shoulder are so tense. I have anxiety issues so I know this is from stress. I stretch every night before I sleep but I’m pretty sure I’m doing the wrong stretches because the pain hasn’t gotten better. What stretches do you suggest? And what are some better positions to sleep in?? (I’m a back sleeper)

i have anxiety a lot too.i always pop my neck to relieve it some.

When I lift fairly heavy objects, I get a pain between my shoulder and my neck. What should I do?

Whenever I lift (starts at about 30-40 pounds) I get a pain between my neck and shoulder blade. It’s not unbearable, but it bothers me enough to make me stop lifting. Should I just stop lifting for a few weeks or go see a doctor?
But it didn’t used to hurt. It just started hurting a week or two ago.

Sounds as if your lifting technique is wrong, you are in the wrong body alignment, so see a trainer. Best of Luck

Belt Massager
Belt Massagers/ Vibration?

We bought a treadmill a while ago and there is a multiways massager built with it. You can put it around your thigh or waist and it keeps on vibrating. Some of my friends think it helps with losing weight. Is that true? If so, how long should I use it to actually burn the unwanted fat? And how does it help?

those massagers will only massage you-

NOT help you lose weight- those things were touted decades (maybe even turn of the last century- 1800s-1900s) to promote weight loss-

guess what?

they never worked. you might find an old commercial or video in black and white of a bunch of old geezers that are fat strapped to these rather odd “massage” belt machines for a good laugh on youtube though.

as for you- well maybe you can use the massager for a vibe of sorts.

Is this a good highschool science fair experiment?

I am trying to see which protective measures against earthquakes hold up best. To do this, I’m using a belt massager as the earthquake, a needle as the building, and marshmallows for base isolation, epoxy glue for pile foundation and plasticine for reinforced building materials.

I use the materials for the methods one at a time. I stick a needle into one of the materials (which is glued to a cardboard by epoxy glue) and measure how much the needle travels back and forth with a ruler.

ex. stick needle into marshmallow, glue marshmallow onto cardboard, turn on belt massager, measure movement of needle.
Is this a good science fair experiment??

well yes it is good idea for measurement but something more like showing which types of buildings oscillate less by their measurements.

How can I get a back massage from cute girls?

I’m a 16-year old boy, and my sister (17) is having a few girl friends spend the night tomorrow into Saturday. What’s a good way for me to approach the girls and ask them to give me a back massage? I don’t have a girlfriend. Can I offer to give each of them back rubs too?

Tell her friends that if there need anything that there can ask you for anything, oh just start rubbing your sister’s back, if she is use to that, then go to another girl, or bring a friend over and tell her or him that you need to rub their back.

Back Massage?

My roomate is taking an eight hours flight. He always get Back Pain after flying. I would like to give him the best back massage when he gets back. I was just wondering if u guys have any tips on how to give the best back massage.

Warm oils and firm touches are always a good thing but a word of caution… if he is has a bad back from eight hours of flying, he may want to actually go to a professional. If you are novice at it there is a chance that you could make the pain worse… and cause more complications. Its easy to think that a massage is a masssage is a massage… but the difference between professional and amature could be frequent trips to the doctor later on in life.

Ultrasound Therapy

You know that ultrasound that is suppose to be use for Deep Tissue massage for physical therapy?

Is this ultrasound addicting? Can some people get that addicted to it even if they have less pain? Someone who had their left subscapula hurting them all the time without an injury and this person always wanted the ultrasound all the time. Do you think the physical therapists has the right to cut off the ultrasound completely? Please help.

There are no physical reasons why ultrasound should be addicting, but there can be a psychological dependence on anything…the therapy itself, for instance. This is one reason why I rarely use ultrasound, not only is it shown to be of very little effectiveness and have a high placebo effect, but it fosters dependency on the clinician instead of empowering the patient to learn how to manage the problem themselves.

In my opinion, if ultrasound is used, it should be for no more than a few sessions and should foster the ability for the patient to tolerate the CORRECTIVE procedures/exercises, not keep covering up a problem that is on going. Most pain in the subscapular area eminates from the cervical spine…if this is not being addressed, the pain will remain.

What are good herbs for Muscle Pain relief?

I have a history of back spasms, followed by muscle pain that gets pretty intense. I am in physical therapy, but the pain is unreal. My doctor won’t prescribe me pain medications – and I’m wary of the addictive nature of them, especially for such a long term issue as my back problems. I’d like a natrual route, an herbal mixture I can combine with stretching, excersise, and muscle strengthening.

Some people concentrate their stress in problem areas of their body. Headaches, stomach problems, backaches are the common ones. Whether you think you have stress or not (and we all do), stress management supplements are a good thing to use. B-50 complex, once or twice a day, are the cornerstone of stress reduction.
Valerian is very relaxing, physically and mentally, and can help with stress and Back Pain. There are several potencies out there, use as directed, but stay on the low dose side until you learn how to use it. Safe, effective, cheap. Medicine cabinet staple.
Building up musculature (especially abdominal muscles) is key to back health.

Rugby: My back/neck is hurting after doing scrums in a game of 7′s. Can any one help?

Hey, I’m playing rugby 7′s and I’m doing the three man scrums and have just played a game in the scrum. I normal 15′s I play as a centre so have never really done any scrums before. But after the game my back and neck ache and hurt. Is this normal as I’m new to it? Is my technique wrong, that’s why I’m getting pains? Thanks for any help

You already know the answer to this – look at your penultimate sentence.

Even in sevens, the scrum is a highly technical issue. You MUST be taught the techniques, and train at scrummaging under qualified supervision. The consequences of getting this wrong are entirely out of scale with the problems of learning it properly. If not for you, then for another player who may be injured.

If you are sore after exercise, it could be simply that your fitness is not where it needs to be, or that your technique is off. But if your neck *hurts*, that is another matter. Consider getting medical advice on the neck, if it hurts. And absolutely get instruction and supervision on scrummaging.

Rugby, even Sevens, is not American razzle-dazzle touch football. Respect the game and yourself. Learn to do it correctly, and then practice what you have learned. You will be a better player, a safer player, and you’ll have more fun (not to mention being able to report for work on Monday).

Neck Back
How do you stop cracking your neck, back, and fingers?

I always crack those three things but I heard cracking your neck can lead to a stroke, and cracking your fingers can lead to weak joints. I’m trying to stop but every time I crack something it feels so good! How do I stop? Any suggestions? I try to keep myself occupied but when I feel like I have to crack I have to crack. Sooo does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop cracking? And does anyone have any suggestion on what to do if you have a lot of Back Pain? Could my back pain be from cracking my neck and back?

well … Cracking your fingers will make the joints in your fingers very very big because your joints will start to swell and when you get older you will start getting arthritis and sharp pains in your fingers, especially when it rains. . . cracking your back and neck can also lead to arthritis in those areas and also cause possible slipped disc’s and other damage. My advise would be to just crack them ever once in awhile and not everyday. P.S. I know the feeling of having to crack I do it myself.

Would a chiropractor be able to tell if I have a back/neck disease?

I’m fifteen and female. My back and neck are extremely painful all the time, it’s becoming unbearable. It started about a year and a half ago and has gradually gotten worse. I’m turning into a hunchback, I have horrible posture. I have occasionally gone to the chiropractor in hopes of finding relief. Could there be something wrong with my back/neck that he didn’t notice? Should I go to a regular doctor?

You should go to a regular doctor.

There is much disagreement about both the effectiveness and risks involved with chiropractic treatment. In my opinion, it is the only thing that should needs to be said about chiropractic adjustment:

A chiropractor cannot “cure” your condition or any other– at best, they would just make your muscles feel better. It would be best to first see your doctor—a real physician—and be referred to a physical therapist or an orthopedic specialist. I would advise that your do everything you can to avoid chiropractic treatment, as it will often do more harm than good.

Chiropractors have to believe that everything causes conditions that only they can fix so they can convince patients that we can’t live comfortably without visits twice per week.

I had a stroke last year as a result of chiropractic treatment and have since made it a priority to raise awareness of the dangers of chiropractic care. I ask that anyone going to visit a chiropractor to be aware of the risks and make an informed decision about treatment.

Although the chiropractic community will argue that I don’t have a degree and I don’t know what I am talking about, I only want to make sure people considering chiropractic treatment that there are risks. I have nothing to gain from this. Can chiropractors say the same? Make sure you get both sides of the story!
