what is rock music to you?

is it just a good sound? is it therapy? is it the savior to all mankind? also what do you think is best about it?

For me, music is so much more than something that I listen to. A lot of it says the things that I think about when I need help, and it helps me cope with myself when no one else understands what’s up with me. At times music seems like a best friend… no matter what you’re going through, there’s always that one band or that one song that has been through everything you’re going through, and can help you get through it like their music did when they were going through it.

internship with round rock express?

i am trying to get an internship with the round rock express, houston astros minor league affiliate, and don’t know how to approach it. my friend’s cousin got an internship with them by calling over and over again. i want to take the same approach, but don’t know what to say when i call, and how often i should call. can someone give me some tips.

First, I would find out if this is allowed by your school. Contracts and insurance arrangements have to be made by your ACCE. A couple students got themselves into trouble by trying to arrange their own clinicals at my school.

Anyways, your ACCE might be able to give you some advice on the matter.

How can a vegetarian build muscle?

I’m vegetarian and I need to build up muscle, what would be the best way to do this? Are beans and pulses my best option? Thanks.

im wondering if small electric pulses can build muscles.

No it doesn’t work and yes I tried it many years ago. It takes an overload on the muscles to make them grow and resistance exercises are the best to stimulate muscle growth.

What’s the best/cheapest way to buy a really great Drum set?

Before I asked what’s the best way to sell my old drum set. Now I want a nice, professional set for a reasonable price. I’m not sure if my best shot is on the internet or simply a guitar center. I know a few local businesses that sell specifically percussion, however I’m afraid they might be overly expensive. ALSO: I was wondering if I could buy an incomplete set for perhaps a cheaper price, instead of having to buy everything – I already have a high hat and a cymbal w/ stand.

Engineering Career Fair advice for GPA and accomplishments?

I have an Engineering career fair coming up. Should I include my GPA of 2.5 on my resume? Does it suggest anything if I leave it out? Any advice?

i had a 2.6 when i went to my first career fair. i left it off the resume and got a lot more returned calls! Sometimes if they dont see it on there, they will ask you. if that happens, just tell them and dont lie about it. not much you can do. but there will be that chance when they happen not to look, call you, and find out youre fit for the job despite a lower GPA. so i would suggest leaving it off. worst case scenario is, they wont call you. which is the same scenario as if you leave it on there

How can I remove red lava rock from landscaping areas?

The person who lived here before used red lava rock in the landscaping. I hate it and most of it has been worn down into the soil. When she moved, she dug up the plants she had planted and took them with her. And now I am stuck with the rocks. She was renting this house from me.

I’m in the process of doing the exact same thing. The easiest way I’ve found is just a rake. Not a springy leaf rake, but a ridgid garden rake.

It sucks, it takes forever, and its back breaking, but really I think its the only way. Use a snow shovel to rake the rocks into.

Whichever side is affected, drop the same shoulder away from the neck and pull the head in the opposite direction, or shrug your head and shoulders as hard as you can. Either way will help lessen the tension. Then gently roll head and shoulders, side to side, front to back.

Nah, it happens to me sometimes too. I think it’s just a muscles way of “settling”. I’m sure there’s a more scientific explanation, but I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Should I use a heat rock/ hot rock or a heat lamp?

I’m getting a redtail columbian boa, and he’s about 4ft long. Should I use a lamp or a rock? And if so do I need more than one? I mean he is pretty big. Thirdly, anything I should know that a petstore/breeder isnt going to tell me?

I’d have to agree with almost everything chris b said. Well done. I do however have qualms with heat rocks or lamps. Snakes do not absorb heat in the same manner as lizards and turtles by basking and absorbing heat directly from the sun. They typically warm up on objects that have been heated by the sun. That being said, I’ve always been a huge advocate of heat strips regulated by a good thermostat. As far as uv lighting, boas for the most part are nocturnal and do not require any special type of lighting. Just as long as you have something in there to turn on and off (a timer helps) accordingly to simulate day and night, you’re golden. Oh, and about the hide boxes chris mentioned, be sure and have a few scattered around the enclosure. Be sure you put them on the hot end and the cool end of the enclosure so your snake won’t have to choose between comfort and security. In terms of feeding, I hook train ALL of my snakes. I use the hook for every interaction (cage cleaning, getting them out for handling) with them EXCEPT for feeding. This allows me to feed inside their enclosures. The hooks really help. Every now and then one of them will whip around looking crazy when I open the cage, but as soon as I touch the cold hook to them you can see a visible change in body language almost instantly. That combined with feeding frozen and proper handling techniques has helped shape my babies into the most mellow, docile boas I’ve ever had. Hope this helps

Has an Ice Cream Truck driver ever gone insane from the monotonous music and killed someone?

It seems like the music emanating from the ice cream trucks could turn the driver into a homicidal maniac who kills a whole bunch of people spends his or her remaining days in a padded cell, wearing a straight-jacket and slowly rocking back and forth while mindlessly humming the ice cream truck’s dreaded song. Have any of you ever heard of something like that happening?

I did some ice cream truck sales for a summer or so and although the repetitiveness of the tune could get annoying that alone would not cause me to go insane. The wages I earned were quite the discomfort but I was grateful to see how many children would become so happy over a little something like Ice-cream and I guess that helped to down play my homicidal tendencies. Thank goodness for those willing to endure such repetitive tunes for the sake of nostalgia and the brief moment of joy that Ice-cream can bring to a child’s life.

What kind of music would you like to be listening to while getting a massage?

I’m becoming a massage therapist and I would like to know what he public would enjoy listening to during a massage session. Do you want to hear soft waves? Birds singing? Indian humming? Slow rhythmic drums? Soft eletro? Classical? Mozart? Celine Dion?? etc.

Enya is always good. Anything with piano, or piano and cello.
If you took out a couple of the faster songs, the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack would be PERFECT.

Good Chinese-Indian-Yoga music like the stuff you hear when you get a massage!?

So I was getting this Back Massage the other day and the coolest music was playing in the background, very relaxing and calm but not too cheesy as a lot of it is. One CD was Chinese-ish and the other sounded more like Indian music. Apparently they were some random yoga CDs my massage therapist picked out of a sale bin.
Any idea how I could go about finding some of this on the Internet? I’ve tried doing searches for “indian yoga music” and other similar keywords but I don’t get much for results; and the ones I do get are, sadly, cheesy. Or does anyone know the name of a CD or two that I can search for and hopefully download?
