in pain: neck ach?! PLEZZZ HELP!!?

i have this Horrible knot in my neck, the back right side. it started out as a marble, then a golfball, now bigger but not quite softball sized. I have had it all summer. i have tried massaging it myself, others(not prof.) icey-hot, hot press, cold press, it hurts sooo bad, sometimes i can’t even move my neck. the pain comes and goes, but is mostly in morning and evening. also pain in upper right sholderblade area. could this be some kind of tumor?
~I am fit, i don’t d drugs, im 18 yrs old, i have diabetes.
Oh my gosh, im scared crapless now! is it really probably?!!! how long did ur aunt have? How old was she? i have my whole life to live!!

It sounds like you’ve got a hemorage in your brain stem. Do you ever forget things, or forget where you’ve put things down? Brain stem problems are common in people with diabetes. Unfortunately there is no cure for this. You are looking at a long road of gradual memory loss, please start saying goodbye to your friends in family now, and treasure the final moments you have.

Pain on muscles along spine?

For a couple of years now, my mother has been having back problems. She says she feels like she has “bumps” on the muscles along her spine and that she feels like it’s really tight. She’s in her early forties now. Is this something that will go away soon? It’s become a nuisance for me to have to massage her every night now.

Oh, and she says that on the end of her butt bone (hehe… don’t know what it’s called), she feels tiny little bumps and that it hurts a lot. She says it feels like tons of “little marbles”.

Is this just apart of menopause? Is there a way to help her besides massaging her every damn night? I’ve been doing this for about 3 years now… and it’s becoming really annoying.

Advice? Help?

The bumps she feels are tight muscles. When they are tight they build up lactic acid on the nerves to cause the pain. When you massage her you are moving that acid off her back so she gets relief from that pain at that time but as the muscles are still tight they build it back up again to become a problem again the next day. To get rid of the problem so you don’t have to keep massaging her she has to free up the muscles in her back and then everything will move on it’s own so she won’t have the pains. There are also muscles around her tailbone that tighten up to give the pains that you mentioned so that will be added as well. Here’s how to free up the muscles in her back and lumbar region to get rid of the pains:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
Lower Back, Lumbar:
While sitting place your hands behind your body just above the buttocks and press in on the muscles next to the spine and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your self forward as far as you can. Then release the pressure but hold your body there for another 30 seconds. Move a few inches down and do it again and keep repeating until you reach the end of your tailbone. For both-For best results relax the body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

You know that ultrasound that is suppose to be use for Deep Tissue massage for physical therapy?

Is this ultrasound addicting? Can some people get that addicted to it even if they have less pain? Someone who had their left subscapula hurting them all the time without an injury and this person always wanted the ultrasound all the time. Do you think the physical therapists has the right to cut off the ultrasound completely? Please help.

There are no physical reasons why ultrasound should be addicting, but there can be a psychological dependence on anything…the therapy itself, for instance. This is one reason why I rarely use ultrasound, not only is it shown to be of very little effectiveness and have a high placebo effect, but it fosters dependency on the clinician instead of empowering the patient to learn how to manage the problem themselves.

In my opinion, if ultrasound is used, it should be for no more than a few sessions and should foster the ability for the patient to tolerate the CORRECTIVE procedures/exercises, not keep covering up a problem that is on going. Most pain in the subscapular area eminates from the cervical spine…if this is not being addressed, the pain will remain.

To be honest, I really don’t know.
But if I were you I would either call the tattoo shop and ask or the place you go to for the LED light therapy. I’m sure either of those places would know the answer to that question.

ladies would you still date a guy after you witnessed him laugh and name call a young girl with Leukemia?

Like he started to make jokes towards this young girl in a wheel chair whom is suffering painful kemo therapy treatments. Making fun of the fact that she has no hair or eyebrows, and calling her a freak causing her to cry.

Would you still date the guy, knowing he is mean spirited but the same time extremely good looking.

Nope. You can tell a lot about people by how they treat others. He may be nice to you now, but he’s just going to end up treating you like that. Also, looks aren’t forever. If you are looking for something long lasting, he needs to have a good personality.

Massage therapy vs Certified Nursing Assistant?

I’m a 20 year old male. Strong hands and a strong sense of altruism are some of my features.

Ive thought about becoming a massage therapist through a local program taught by Memorial Hermann. After learning the main program, I would also build on my knowledge by taking additional training offered through the same organization in sports massage, Cryostreych/Cryokinetic Therapy, Deep Tissue and chair massage.

However, being male, I am sure finding steady employment will be a challenge.

This then brings me to the occupation of Certified nursing assistant. More demand, and steadier employment, but less money, I think.

Which one would be a good choice?

Thanks.

You can do both.

The Massage training will take longer.
You can consider Sports Medicine as a male –work on Athletes that require more strength in massage and other modalities–could be w/ a Sports clinic or a team or a school program–College.
Later you could also teach.

The training for a Certified Nursing Assistant–CNA–is about 6-8 weeks. As a male you are good for the Heavy Duty work of many patients, Nursing homes employ many male CNAs. There is also Assisted Living Communities that don’t require CNA certification yet. They train you as a Care Manager and you do many of the same duties.
You are right, the pay is much less but more dependable hours. The work is also not easy but rewarding however

You could work part-time as a Massage therapist and full-time as a CNA or the reverse. You would get a steady income as well as gravy money for the other job and do good at the same time.

Also consider a Chiropractor as a place to work, many use them as part of a treatment plan.

Best wishes

Question about electrical engineering and portable home phones?

Is it possible for a device to learn a specific portable phone’s frequency (ie distinguish a specific phone unit) and engage a function when in range of that specific phone?
How unique are the frequencies of portable phones? Could a device recognize two identical portable phone systems’ frequencies of the same model as different?
Thanks for the reply. To expand upon it…
Could a device be placed within close range of the base of a portable phone and “lock in” on it? When removed from the “locked in” phone base could a device be engaged? Of course this means without interferance of other phones.
Are base units continuously transmitting?

The answer is likely ‘no’. Most cordless phones operate at eitehr 900 Mhz or 2.1Ghz. (There’s some much higher now though). The frequency they communicate over is identical. Even if the phones can talk on different channels (slightly different frequencies) they likely do this dynamically – so a phone may be on channel 1 for 10 seconds, then switch to 2.

Now – it could be a ‘yes’ if the phone had an encryption scheme. The phone’s encryption -may- be hard-coded into it somehow, but taking this data out and processing it could be very hard indeed. Even if you could, there’s no guarantee that the encryption is truly unique.
