Why is the Eames lounge chair and ottoman so incredibly expensive?

The chair runs between $2,500 to $3,000 from Herman Miller. It is just plywood and some leather. Does anyone know where to get a good quality one at a better price? Does anyone have one? If so, what are your thoughts?

How do you repair a seat cushion ripped apart by a dog? ?

Left my daughter’s dog in the car while visiting my mother-in-law. Came out to find he had ripped chunks of foam cushion out of the driver’s seat. Can you get the seat cushion replaced?

How can I round the edges of my foam to make a small cushion shape?

I have some firm foam that was cut in neat flat square shapes. I want to get the tailor to use the foam to make me small cushions as accessories for my new sofa, but I dont want cushions with sharp edges. I want the traditional rounded edges. What should i do? .

As a professional automotive upholsterer I have used many methods over the years. ie scissors, razor blade knife, serrated blade knife, etc but the easiest way I have found is an electric carving knife.
They are inexpensive and easy to use.
Whatever method you use don’t worry too much about how smooth the cut edge is. Small imperfections will be smoothed out when the foam is stuffed into the cushion cover.
Also, cut your foam slightly larger than the cover. This will ensure a tight fit and a firm cushion. If it is too firm you can always remove and recut the foam, but if you cut it too small you will have to replace the foam.

Time table for BEd primary cource at University?

I am a mature student, and am contemplating doing a BEd primary cource at uni next year, but am worried about the time table because i have 2 kids ages 3 and 7, and live about 90 mins from the nearest uni. Although i am going to move closer to the uni, i would like to hear from anyone who has done this cource, to find out what hours i will be looking at.
I would love to hear from NQTs, to also tell me whether primary teaching is what they expected/anticipated please.

it is incredibly tough. In four years I spent of 40 weeks teaching full time (unpaid). I was planning for at least two hours a night during these placements.
University wise the workload is also very high. 10-25 assignments depending on the year, 15-20 hours per week in lectures. The drop out rate on my course (Demontfort University Bedford, now University of Bedfordshire) ran at over 50%.
Saying that though the mature students did very well. All juggled families and jobs. It is tough and the journey times will make things difficult.
Chances are the uni will put you on school placement near your house if you request. (Worth doing or you’ll have a 6am wake up). The uni should be able to help with a nursery for your youngest.
I know it sounds silly but make sure you volunteer in a primary school first it will help with your application no end and give you a real test of school life. Hope this helps good luck.

RE COMMENT TWO:
Please do not do a PGCE, the course does not prepare you at all for teaching, good schools do not employ people who have taken that route. I have it on good authority that when schools are accepting applications from NQT’s two piles are formed, BEd and PGCE the latter tend to end up being recycled. I don’t want to sound arrogant but the PGCE was a short sighted initiative by the Government which is fantastic in the secondary sector but massively flawed in the primary sector. A BEd will get you a job (98% find employment in their NQT year,I think it’s about 50% for PGCE).

Yeah, you will fall off it in the middle of the night. When we don’t exercise our back, yes our backs, they become tight and weak and cause us pain. You need to start on some back stretching exercises that will strengthen your back. Search on the Internet for some Back Stretching Exercises. These should be simple,quick and done routinely.
make sure the instructions are clear and that you have a picture before you start the routine. Pictures reinforce us to do the exercises properly. Do not do any exercises that are suggested on this site as they do not have any pictures,either. If you do exercises routinely it will lessen your pain and help your back.

Ive have been wondering how fast a needle moves on a tattoo machine.?

I would just like to know. like i am going in to get a tattoo on may 10th, and i just wanted to know how fast the tattoo machine moves. I have to be in the chair for 3 hours, so i was just wondering how many times i would be stabbed. haha. I’m not nervous, just curious.

Liners aren’t always one needle- You can get 3,5,7…However thick you want it, it’s just that the needles are soldered in different positions- Rounds are just that-round, and the liners are bunched together to make a fine tip. Flats/magnums…All depends on what the tattooist prefers to do it with, and they will use several different needles if they feel like it. As for how many times you’ll be stabbed (lol) that depends on how low or high the tattooist sets their transformer/powerbox (whatever you want to call it). They buzz pretty fast. If you set the transformer too slow and tattoo too fast, you’ll end up dragging the needles over the skin- not nice, but if you set it too fast but tattoo too slow, you’ll chew the skin up. (Really not nice). You have to find the ‘happy medium’ as the artist, so as to not cause any unnecessary grief for the client. Good luck!

I like the first and second ones the most. The third one is too italic.

The guy i liked at uni finally noticed me.When he came into class he looked at me first when i went out for a bit and came back in he looked at me again and while presenting he luked at me a few times and even when i was presenting he looked at me. Then when i was leaving i held the door open for him and he usually doesnt bother talking to people but he thanked and he always lux me straight in my eyes!The tables have turned because i would always look at him and he would never look and today he kept noticing me and whenever he would look i would feel like i was caught off guard so i would look away. I know i should try to keep eye contact next time but what should i do to keep him looking at me and eventually liking me? What do i say or do the next time i see him?

What do you think about my tattoo idea?

in march I am planning on getting a cherry blossom tree on my left arm/shoulder.
I love the symbolism and the beauty of the cherry blossom but some thoughts have crossed my mind in regards to the feminism that the cherry blossom brings to the table. Btw I am not gay haha. So what do you guys think?

I think you have asked this before, but just get what makes you happy. It is not about anybody else, it is about you. If you care about what other people think, then dont get one because it is for the wrong reasons and you will dislike it every time somebody else does.

on a side note, if you are 6 foot 2, and 215, then you look pretty manly and a flower tattoo will not make you look less so. It would look bad if someone was a wimp and got it.

I ate at this restaurant and he was the worst server ever. He had a teardrop right next to his eye and someone on the table mentioned that we shouldn’t complain or make him mad. What does the teardrop mean?

an empty tear drop tatoo means a loved one was murdered a full tear drop tatoo means a loved one died by anything besides murder (example: suicide, car crash, ect) half empty tear drop means a loved one died by murder but the wearer of the tatoo killed the murderer.

my sons room is painted with alfresco sky dulux (blue) on walls and whtie on ceilings. which color furniture , curtains and bedding goes well with it.
iam looking for some different color not blue furnishings.
i dont mind changing the wall color if i dont get any correct match for the existing combination.

I suggest to pick out your bedding first. This way you are using that as a guide for additional colors in the room. It is always easier to decorate a room after your soft goods have been chosen instead of the opposite.
