Fat Pain
Im thinking of getting a tat on my ribs…I have some fat, will that reduce the amount of pain at all.?

I want to get several tattoos and I want to get one on my rib cage. I have heard that it is the worst and most painful place to get one becuase of the bone. Im not super skinny and I do have some fat on my rib, so will that lessen the pain?

Is your Back Pain keeping you fat?

The reason i ask guys is that as a personal trainer and ex back pain sufferer, i understand how frustrating and depressing it can be when you want to achieve a fitness goal but cannot due to pain. Now i’ve overcome it helped others overcome it to via some simple peinciples that can be applied across your life.

I was thinking of outting a product out (online or CD) that presents a step by step walk through guide from back pain to lean frame, just want to find out what people think?

Dave

hey thats a great idea, a lot of people suffer it.
make sure you include exercises for men and women and all levels of fitness strength.

Muscle Pain
How to get rid of after-exercise muscle pain?

Yesterday, I added a new exercise to my workout plan: planks. Because I had never done these before, I wasn’t sure how physically demanding they were, but I did a couple of sets of them anyways.
This morning, I woke up with my entire core and my thighs all sore. I have an event to attend later tonight and it would be great if I could attend it pain-free.

What can I do to treat this muscle ache?

a couple of ibuprofen and a hot shower just before you go to your event should get you through.
Try to do some gently stretches so you don’t stiffen up too much.

How do I differentiate bone pain from muscle pain in a chronic pain situation in my feet?

I have had chronic pain in my feet since I can remember. I have had bone reconstruction surgery to lower the arch in my foot in the hopes that it would relieve some of the pain.

It did not work.

If I cut the circulation off to one of my feet and go numb, and that stops the pain – does that mean it was muscle or the bone that was the cause of the pain?

In otherwords – if I go numb, and the pain stops does that tell me anything about the source of the pain?

I’m afraid not. You’re numb because you’re pinching off a nerve. Nerves carry pain messages from both muscle and bone. Unless you know exactly which nerve your pinching, you can’t target the pain.

Fit Massage
do you think massage shoes can help you to keep fit or loose weight?

Do you think massage shoes can help you to keep fit or loose weight? i mean the shoes designed according to Chinese Traditional Medicine. Have you ever had a try? is it expensive? how much is it? Thanks a lot

I hope you mean ‘lose’ weight’ and not ‘loose weight’. The idea of all that weight flying around loose is scary..

Shoes of any kind are incapable of making you lose weight. The only way to do that is eat less and exercise more.

Relative is going into clinicals for massage therapy…..do they wear protective gloves when they work?…she is nervous

Just wondering…..
My relative IS the therapist and is the one who is nervous –I am not the patient.

She is starting clinicals….can or do they wear protective gloves

If she is nervous she should go to a psycho therapist.

the discharge ???????

Mrs. Cohn went to see her doctor. When he inquired about her complaint she replied that she suffered from a discharge.

The Doctor said, “Get undressed, Mrs. Cohn, and lie down on the examining table.”

She did, whereupon the doctor put on rubber gloves and began to massage her private parts.

After a couple of minutes he asked, “How does that feel?”

” Wonderful,” she replied, “but the discharge is from my ear!”

Fat Burn
How do you Burn Fat to look toned?

Ive been working out for years but im not quite tone because i have some fat left in me. no matter how much heavy lifting i do the fat seems to just stay. is there a routine that i could do to lose that fat including diet, exercise, when to eat or not to eat before a work out. just a way that i can burn the most fat. lift before fat burning maybe? im clueless

this same problem happened to me. the weight lifting exercises you do only tone the muscles, they don’t burn away the fat. you need to do 30 minutes of cardio a day. bike riding really helps legs, but running is really the only thing that helps the Whole Body. i really hate running but in the end it has the better results. don’t forget to drink water and eat lots of fruits, veggies, & protien! good luck

Isn’t it better to muscle up and let the muscles burn the fat off instead of doing cardio with weightlifting?

Muscle burns fat. Why not let the muscle do the fat burning for you instead of doing cardio to burn it off? Wouldn’t you rather sit down and watch TV and let your muscle you’ve gained from strength training do the fat burning for you? When I do cardio I gain bodyfat for some strange reason.

Yes weight lifting does burn fat at a more rapid pace then cardio. Cardio is more for endurance and for people that dont want to put on muscle size.

Being in ketosis, do you burn just fat or fat and muscle during a cardio session of running?

In ketosis the presence of carbs are null so your body is using fat as the primary fuel (energy) source. If high protein intake is taken, would running burn fat or fat+muscle?

Try the Lil Jack workout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezris it really helps

Calf Leg
What’s the gear guard that protect your right pant leg/calf on a bicycle called?

It’s a plastic or metal guard that is screwed (5 screws on mine) to the largest gear. Some bicycles come with the and others do not. It protects my right leg pants from getting caught it the largest gear and tearing my pant leg.
It’s circular (fitting over the largest gear) and it’s NOT a chain guard.

actually, this piece is infact called a chain guard.

Ball Health
What do the Chinese health ball do? Do they work? How?

Health Balls were made roughly 2000 years ago in China. They used to be used for martial arts training. Eventually, it was solely for the us of the Imperial family. Today, health balls are a treasured necessity for Chinese people. It helps to build up strength and to promote health.

What do Health Balls look like?

They come in a pair. They are usually gorgeously decorated with exotic designs and are often deemed as delightful little pieces of art. They are wear resistant, the design does not come off and they are not easily breakable. The balls are generally heavy and within each is bell mechanism that produces a lovely and therapeutic sound while exercising. They come in different sizes to match the size of one’s hand – usually the size of a golf ball. The pair I have comes in a gorgeous little box that is wrapped in Chinese silk embroidery.

What are the benefits?

According to the traditional Chinese theory of “jungluo”, there are various acupuncture points in the palm of one’s hand. When exercising with the balls, the acupuncture points are stimulated. This promotes greater health.

stimulates Blood Circulation
improves memory
relaxes muscles and joints
relieving joint stiffness and soreness
relieving stress
promoting sleep

How to use?

Hold both balls in one palm. Move, twist and stretch your fingers in sequence so that the balls rotate either clockwise or anti-clockwise. You may exercise both hands in alteration or both at a time (with two pairs) and when more experienced is gained, you may use more than one pair of balls per palm.

Health Safety, being pregnant and having a pet ball python?

I must admit I dont know much about snakes, but my husband just got one from a friend. We have everything for it including a big aquarium with a sealed lid, and it does eat live mice. I am just concerned about germs and such since I am pregnant and we do have a 3 year old. Just wondering if anyone knows much about this?

I have several ball pythons that I have kept and bred through two pregnancies. If you have to handle rodents, make sure to wash your hands afterward.
Because ball pythons are egg laying, they *can* carry salmonella bacteria. This is unlikely if you do not have a gravid female or a clutch of eggs, but it is possible. Make sure that you and everyone else washes their hands after handling the snake, just to be on the safe side.

Also, I would suggest trying to switch your snake over the fresh killed or frozen/thawed mice rather than live. Live mice can cause injury and infection to the snake, not to mention, bringing live mice into your home runs you at a higher risk of bringing parasites like mites or worms into your home.

I have spinal stenosis disk bulge etc. I am trying to avoid back surgery or am looking for info on the surgery

I am a nurse and am exploring pro and cons of back surgery vs. complimentary/alternative therapy. Can anyone enlighten me? I have been using magnetics, far-infared, massage, nutrition, wt loss, physical therapy SI belt, traction and exploring a purchase of a new sleep system @ hhtp://www.mynikken.net/winters I am also strongly thinking of going on another route with my nursing career as I am BSN educated but am also 50 and need to re-think whether to leave floor nursing …. I am told if I continue the same work and have surgery, I will just need to have additional surgeries. Any info would be greatly appreciated. FYI I am worker’s comp and have been working through this whole thing for over a year. Any info or Facts and Figures would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a chiropractor & deal with spinal stenosis patients quite often. Feel free to email me & we can chat more…
Don’t waste your $$$ on the nikken sleep system, they are a multi level marketing over priced magnet company. If you want to try something else, you can try acupuncture.
I don’t know how severe your stenosis is, or the degree of symptoms you are having, but the surgeons I deal with generally wont operate on anyone unless it gets fairly severe.
Perhaps you could go into other types of nursing tho… my sister is a PA & just had a baby- she is now working in a Med-Spa- doing botox & restalyne & laser skin treatments & making more $$$ part time than she was full time (she use to be a surgical PA)– something low impact like that would be good for you to do– or working in a family practice or derm office etc. No idea if that has any appeal to you, just a few ideas.

anyway, back to your spine…..
check out this website, i often refer patients to this one for educational purposes: www.spineuniverse.com they talk about the surgical procedure itself. You may also want to get another surgical opinion.
good luck
