anyone used a foot Bath Massager?

I want to know if it really works because I plan to buy one tomorrow at Wal-mart. I tried soaking my feet in hot water, but it never stays hot, I guess that’s why my feet keep hurting. I’ve tried buying different walking shoes, cushions and epsom salt. So, I want to give the foot bath massager a try.

honestly not really work. Don’t have a highly expectation.

Reputable online store for living aids (house accessories) for the disabled?

I have mild CP. I’m not sure if I’m asking this correctly. I’m looking for some kind of online store (a reputable one) that sells house accessories and daily living aids for the disabled?

Basically things like lifted toilet seats w/ handles, doorknob grips, aids to get in/out of vehicles easier, seats or handles to get in/out of bathtubs more easily, muscle massagers, walking canes, hammer toe straighteners, handwriting aids, handlebars for getting up out of bed, large grip toothbrushes/pens/pencils, leg support for bed, bed liners/boards for under mattress support and above mattress pads for more cushioning, back support to sit up in bed (for reading or watching tv), etc.

This business, Wright & Filippis is local for me, but they do sell online. This is a family owned business that was started by the now deceased founder who lost his legs in a train accident. They are a strong advocate for people with disabilites. I have never encountered any problems with them.

Have you ever been bought a Christmas present that has stayed in it`s box?

I bought a Homedics Quad Massager, in the Cargo shop for a friend, for around £10. I think it`s quite good. I`ve just been trying it out. It has batteries included and has 4 massage nodes for strong relief, a hand grip for comfort and illuminated massage heads. The friend in question, loves massages.
I just have visions that it is the sort of present that will remain in it`s box. I hope this question doesn`t sound too rude……… :)
Ghost – Yes, they don`t sound like my cup of tea either. Lol.
Mark – Are you angling for a present?? :)
Would you be interested in a Homedics Quad Massager. No don`t answer that. XX.

i was given some diesel perfume gift box thing about 2 years ago from a mate, its still in the box, never touched it

Are the Homedics products (massage w/heat etc) reliable and effective?

I don’t know about reliable, but they are only half way effective, they usually only get to the top of the muscle and if the muscle is pinched it has no effect on that at all. You can do much better by using muscle releasing to get rid of your pain. Let me know where the pain and I will get you the help you are looking for.

One of my dogs ate chicken bones?

One of my 2 dogs got into the garbage and ate 2 chicken bones… I have a guess of which dog did it but at this point we are assuming it was either one. I have called the vet and they told to feed them bread and food to make sure their stomachs are full to cushion the bones. I’ve been told to give them cotton balls and the vet said that we could give them bread or cotton ball to help. Has anyone been through this? What worked best for you? we are really hoping to avoid taking them to the emergency vet.
It’s the splintering that is the problem… and before they were domesticated they weren’t eating Cooked chicken bones which dry out and splinter.
Lindsay.. did you read the question? they said to use cotton balls OR bread… I just wanted to know which one people had better luck with. We talked to several vets, they all said there was no need to bring them in unless they showed signs of distress.

I have good experiences with bread. My dog ate a spool of thread a couple of weeks ago and my vet also suggested bread to fill her stomach. The thread came out about 12 hours later. A household remedy here in Denmark is to feed your dog cooked asparagus if it has eaten something sharp, as the asparagus fibres are supposed to wrap themselves around the sharp object. I haven’t tried it myself, though.

Cooked chicken bones can certainly be dangerous as they can splinter and cut the dog’s intestine, but luckily it doesn’t happen that often. Most likely your dogs will be just fine. Feed them bread, and keep an eye on them, so you’re ready to rush them to the emergency vet if they become listless or sick.

Where can I buy a good dress form?

Where could I buy a good dress form either used or new it doesnt really matter. I already looked at Joann’s Fabric Store but their expensive. Do you think local fabric stores would have any? I dont want the ones that open up and make gaps so the size gets bigger. If you’ve ever seen project runway the dress forms they have are full cushion. So if you know a good place I could get one please let me know! Thanks!

The forms shown on PR are Wolfe forms, and they’re expensive. Very expensive. You need to buy the size you’re going to use.

thank you.

Paddle brushes are good to soften a roller set. They are the same…just different designs and sizes! I personally prefer the third one since is smaller and looks easy to work with.

What is causing the popping sensation where my knee meets my quad?

Background:
-Knee was injured in mid Oct
-My injuries are sublaxation of the petellar tendon and grade 2 sprain of the MCL and a possible meniscus tear.
-I completed 8 weeks of physical therapy.
-Last week I got a hinged knee brace that has a cushion to help my patella track correctly

Lately I have noticed this popping or catching sensation where the top of my knee cap and my quad muscle meet. It does not cause a lot of pain but it is uncomfortable and I have to stop and bend my knee a few times to get it back “normal”. What could this be and is there anything that I can do to fix it or make it happen less often?

I am assuming you are exercising when this happens. Likely that your tendon hasn’t finished healng. With that type of injury you need to stay off your leg whenever possible and let it heal otherwise you will hurt for life. Ice it whenever ou can and keep it elevated. It takes longer for a muscle/ligament to heal than it does a broken bone.

Visual summary of what it was like on the economy class cabin on Cathay Pacific flights from Taiwan -Hong Kong

If you been on Cathay Pacific Airways economy class cabin from TPE-HKG tell me about the features of the seat. Was the seat comfortable for your standards? Were you able to have a descent sleep, rest, or work time? Was the seat clean? What does it feel like to recline the seat? How many degrees does the seat recline? Was the lumbar, back, and head support ensure comfort? Is the headrest movable? Was the legspace, armspace, and cushion space average? Was their enough personal space for you? Describe the inflight entertainment system? What was the feeling like on the cabin? Did you feel comfortable or uncomfortable and why?. Was the interior clean and was it sanitized enough for your standards? Did your seat have a footrest? Can you use your laptop with internet onboard? What was your most favorite part on being aboard the economy class seat during the flight? What makes it unique compared to the previous economy class seat? Please state you flight number, aircraft type, and date.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the aircraft number or the specific length and width of the aircraft or even the average speed which it travelled; however, I can remember that my flight (in Dec 2007 to HK and from HK in Jan 2008) on an economy class cabin (Cathay Pacific) was most pleasant. The air hostesses were very polite, service minded (and mostly attractive) – the seats were considerably more spacious than other in other airline economy class cabins, the food was great (for airline food). After my flight with Cathay I had to transfer to BA (from HK to London) and I could really tell the difference – as on BA the air hostesses tend to be middle-aged battle-axes with hideous make-up, the seats were still dirty (their was gravy down the back of the seat in front) and the food was a joke!

It’s a shame Cathay couldn’t take me all the way to the UK!

Hon, I purchased one at Walgreen’s in Chicagoland a couple of months ago. Costs about $20.00 and it also heats up so was so good in the wintertime.

What effectively removes cigarette smoke oder from vinyl/foam?

I received a used Massage Chair for Christmas and the previous owner quite obviously smoked like a chimney in her home. I’m replacing the Face Cradle cushion, but cannot afford to replace all of the cushions. I’ve been alternating between wiping it down with vinegar and leaving a baking soda paste on it for 24 hours and then wiping it down again. It is drawing some of the tar out. I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions that may work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Shaving cream.

I know it sounds a little unusual, but try it just once and you will be amazed.

Lather some shaving cream onto the vinyl, then wipe away with a damp paper towel.

Shaving cream is nothing but whipped soap that rinses off easily. It will remove all traces of the smoke smell.

Shaving cream also works on leather.

is a Shiatsu Massaging cushion good for a person with herniated disc and spinal stenosis?

I wouldn’t reccomend one, I had a demo and it hurt like hell, it was horrible.
I have degenerating discs and have had 3 herniated discs over the
years. I thought some gentle massage would do me good, I had to get off it
pdq as it caused me so much pain.

any ideas for lower back(cushion inbetween gone?

3 injections have been done & PT has been done also. @ wits end.feel like no hope.feel less of a wife and grandma.do need to lose weight, but i just cry

as a chiropractor i see this type of scenario on a daily basis. i’m assuming the ‘cushion’ you are referring to is a disc that is worn away. this causes a problem because you lose the space between the two vertebrae and so there is no room for the nerves that exit between each vertebrae anymore. thus the nerves get ‘pinched’ and you end up with low Back Pain and usually pain, numbness, tingling, etc. into the leg(s)/buttocks. for those who have degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, disc bulging, etc.–normal chiropractic care can usually help with those problems. but there are also many people out there that have had this problem for many years and can’t find relief with anything they try–including chiropractic.

but now there is a treatment that is perfect for that situation and the best part is: it’s non-surgical and non-invasive. if you haven’t heard of it yet it is called spinal decompression. this type of treatment focuses on disc injuries and the problems they cause. i use the DRX9000 spinal decompression system in my office and it works wonders for people with these types of injuries. the DRX9000 is fda approved and is the best decompression system available (there are cheap knock-offs that don’t give the same results).

my recommendation would be to research this treatment and then contact someone (usually a chiro) who uses it in their office. i would just google “DRX9000″ to find info on it and doctors in your area who may have it. this treament is able to encourage the disc to go back to it’s normal orientation and also rebuild its height–which then takes the pressure off whatever nerve it is compressing.

this treatment is extremely effective for degenerative disc disease, disc bulging, herniation, etc. and also sciatica type of cases, especially if you haven’t had surgery yet. i’ve had many patients who were scheduled for surgery, tried this treatment as a last resort, and then ended up cancelling their surgery altogether after treatment was completed. it really does work and that’s what my recommendation would be for you, especially since it seems you have exhausted all other options.. good luck and hopefully this gives insight to others experiencing similar problems–there is a solution!!!

What do they call those chairs that have no bottom part, but just a back support & armrest (cushions)?

It’s kind of like a floor chair, but its just a cushion that doesn’t have any seat. I want to put this on my futon that’s extended out so I can stretch my legs and be comfortable without having to fold it back up.

I think I know what you’re talking about. They are commonly called a “husband”, because of the way you snuggle back into them. I’m not sure of their real name, probably something boring like tv seat, or backrest.

Help im pregnant and my back is killing me?

I have an office job and im sitting 8 hours a day at my desk. My back is kiling me. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of cushion or massage thing i can buy for my chair?

Along with the pillow, take a foot stool that keeps you knees level to your hips. If no foot stool, then try a sturdy stack of books. This will take some strain off your back muscles.

Which massage cushion should I buy?

My partner was involved in a car accident and now has terrible shoulder pain which I’m constantly having to massage. I thought I would get him a massage cushion for Christmas and give my hands a rest, but can anyone recommend one, especially one that’s good for shoulders? Thanks

First how long ago was the accident?
Did he ever go to a chiropractor or MD after his accident?
Is it a constance pain or pain when he/she moves?
Last question what area of the should is bothering him/her?

Acupuncture Healing?

I have a chronic Back Pain. My friends recommended me to try acupuncture healing massagers for treatment of chronic pain conditions. They say they’ve bought them there and the results are great. Has anybody tried them??? I didn’t hear a lot about acupuncture healing I don’t know. Help me?
they’ve bought there – acupuncturehealing.info
are they ok???

Acupuncture only works for some people by the placebo effect, there are reports however of success in back pain trials , this is because it’s such a difficult and vague symptom, there is no doubt that going to an acupuncturist, paying all that money, seeing all those mystical charts and having needles stuck in you adds to the placebo effect.

This experience can therefore be very relaxing, therefore if your back pain is caused by stress which is very often the case then this placebo effect can be very powerful.

If however there is a physical cause to the pain, a herniated disc for instance, then you should go to a real doctor first.

oblique muscle Ultrasound Therapy? is acupuncture ok?

i’m having ultrasound therapy now on my left side, and then a Electric Massager with hotpacks, after every session, at night, it would feel uncomfortable like it’s a bulge, but there’s no swelling, it just feels heavy.. i’ve heard that after a therapy it should feel relaxed.. but mine’s not. i wonder why? the bulge would go away for like 3 days. so i don’t know if i’m getting better.. the target muscle area is on my belly on the left side.. oblique muscles..

i don’t know what happend to my obliques but one night, it just went off. and i’m in this uncomfy feeling everytime i stand up so i went to p.t.

is it hard to treat the oblique muscles? well i don’t feel excruciating pain.. (that’s what i keep telling them) it just feel uncomfy. can’t find the balance with my left and right belly.. especially when standing..

hmm.. i’m thinking of consulting an acupuncture.. is it safe? can it solve this mysterious uncomfy feeling in my oblique?

my abdominal ultrasound says i’m ok..

Acupuncture has been proven to treat many problems.
The best way to see if acupuncture can help with your specific issue is to set up a consultation.
Find an acupuncturist in your area, or look for one from this site http://www.tcmdirectory.com

It is safe and has been safe for thousands of years.
