Do Not Neglect Inner Beauty

Posted in Health And Wellbeing by Cody Vanriper on December 21, 2011

Beauty is a priority for everyone. The market for cosmetic products, Skin Care essentials, bath products, and so many other accessories for both women and men is huge enough to be considered a substantial chunk of the retail market. Billions of dollars worth of purchases are tallied yearly by traditional and online retailers of beauty and wellness products.

Many studies have shown that self-esteem and confidence are related to how someone views their personal beauty and look. When someone is confident about their looks, their skin, their general appearance, they tend to perform better at work, relate better with people, and have a generally better sense of what they can do because of that boost of confidence. On the other hand, uncertainty about personal appearance can hamper productivity and stifle opportunities for development.

Fitness centers, gyms, and exercise equipment have also become part of daily routines as more and more people strive to achieve that perfect physique. After all, what good would many beauty products on your skin be if you are not in shape, right? Conveniences and easier ways of achieving that great body such as at-home routines, supplements, and ab belts are also being marketed heavily. They are also more affordable, with special promos offered such as the flex belt coupon for free shipping or discounts.

The prioritization of personal appearance does not have to be excessive or harmful to your personal well-being, because there are benefits that can certainly be obtained such as a healthier and stronger body if you work out, or delaying skin aging if you use creams and topical treatments. Outward appearance, however, cannot fill that need for fulfillment, achievement, and true happiness. What we need to remember is to also make the inside grow and develop in step with any improvements for the outside.

2 Eyebrow Shaping Tips to Follow BEFORE Waxing Your Brows

Posted in Makeup Products by Clinton Maddalena on December 8, 2011

For women who need to look their best whenever they leave the house here are two eyebrow shaping tips to follow before waxing or tweezing:

1. if your brows are fair, tint the hair BEFORE shaping. Know how much hair you have to work since peach-fuzz may be invisible, but can provide a means to achieve a more natural shape. Once you can see ALL the hair, then you may choose a shape.

2. many eyebrow shaping tips provide details on how to tweeze / wax but don’t explain how to find the starting / ending points. Using the eye alone may lead to uneven brows or overly thin designs. Before picking up tweezers or getting out the wax, create a design to follow. The best way is by using a professional eyebrow stencil. The starting point can be calculated by measuring an eye. The space between brows is one eye length. Now, place the stencil and draw an outline using a white highlighter pencil.

Once you can see the hair available {because it’s been tinted}, and you have a basic outline to follow, here’s how to wax your eyebrows:

1. Choose a warm wax kit. Heat the wax. Use a spatula to apply a thin layer in the direction of hair growth without getting any inside the outline. Place muslin strips over the wax. Press, then pull in the opposite direction.

2. Tweeze stragglers outside the white outline. Use oil to eliminate excess wax. Apply ice to reduce redness and then a soothing aloe gel. Wait 24 hours for bumps / redness to fade.

Follow these eyebrow shaping tips, and suggestions for how to wax your eyebrows, for monthly maintenance. If it’s your first time, go for professional shaping / waxing to have an initial profile and to get a feel for how to wax your eyebrows at home on your own.

The Most Expensive Eye Makeup In The World

Posted in Makeup Products by Cody Vanriper on December 6, 2011

Yesterday, I saw something that I never before thought possible – makeup that costs over $1000!  Don’t take me wrong, I like to spend money on makeup, but anything that would require me to go take out a $1000 cash loan just to pay for just isn’t worth it.  You want to know the saddest part of the whole experience?  There were three, yes three, people in line who were PURCHASING THE MAKEUP!  For someone who spends at the most $100 on any makeup, I just really couldn’t believe it.

Ok, so some background so you can understand why someone would go into debt for some makeup:

I was traveling in Beverly Hills and decided that I had to go to Rodeo Drive and do the ‘Pretty Women’ thing and do a little window shopping down Rodeo Drive.  I went in about four stores before I realized that I didn’t really belong.  All the workers were looking at me like “Yeah, she’s not buying anything”…and they were right, especially at the Gucci store (which is where I found the makeup that is outrageously priced).

Of course, most everyone who was there to actually purchase something is in a different financial position than I am, but really – does anyone need to spend that much money on anything that you will wash off at night?  I don’t think so.  So, being as outgoing as I am, I decided I would ask someone why they were purchasing that makeup.  Bad decision.  The first person I asked just turned their nose up (literally, I never realized that people actually do that) and the second pretended I didn’t exist.  The third person who finally answered game me a typical “dumb blond” (no offense, I’m blond) answer of ‘why not’?

Bottom line and what I learned: I don’t belong in Beverly Hills, and will sit band and enjoy where I’m at just fine.

Practical and Elegant Hairstyles to Glam Up the Holiday Season

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Mathew Bachelor on November 28, 2011

It’s Christmastime once again and for many of us, this season is tantamount to indulgence, from buying gifts for friends and loved ones to going away on a holiday trip. Additionally, this season is also the time for parties, soirees and family gatherings which only means that you need to constantly look your best.

But as this is also the busiest time of the year, keeping your hair tamed and properly coiffed can be quite a challenge which is why we have asked the help of Salon 9309 to sum up the easiest and most attractive hairstyles perfect for spreading the holiday cheers.

In choosing the right hairstyle for you, you also need to factor in your personality and lifestyle. This allows you to be comfortable with your hairdo as well as keep your personality intact in spite of your extra glamorous look.

1.     For women on the go – if you are someone who always needs to be in two places at one time, then you don’t have much time to spare on styling your hair. As such, you will need to multi-task. While prepping up to prepare your children to school, you can put on your hot rollers and work your way through your daily chores. By the time you’re done, you can simply undo your curlers and add on a few touch-ups to give it an elegant look. As you probably do not have the time to regularly visit a salon, make sure to also check on the best hair products in your area to help maintain your hair’s natural shine, the product line of Pureology in Oklahoma City, for instance, can help ensure beautiful hair without much fuss.

2.     For women who loves getting dolled up – if you love looking extra fabulous every time you step out of the house, consider setting your hair in elegant curls and give them an extra boost of fashion by clipping on a trendy pin or hairclip.

3.    For the adventurous women – if you prefer to go against the norm and still look fashionably chic, considering getting a pixie cut ala Emma Watson. To style your short hairdo, simply comb through it and apply a hairstyling gel to keep your locks in place.

Skin Glands

Posted in Health And Wellbeing by Mathew Bachelor on November 26, 2011

The glands of the skin are of two major types: the oil, or sebaceous, glands and the sweat, or sudoriparous, glands. The oil glands are scattered over the skin surface except on the palms and soles. They are situated in the dermis, mostly in direct association with hairs so that their ducts open into the hair follicles. Oil glands are from 0.004 inch in diameter and consist of several pear-shaped lobules of specialized epithelium surrounded by a fibrous capsule.

The product of these glands, called sebum, is formed by fatty degeneration of the epithelial cells within the lobules and is collected in a common gland cavity, from which it is discharged into the upper portions of the hair follicles. Meibomian glands are sebaceous glands not associated with hairs. They are found on the male and female genital organs, about the lips and mucous membranes of the cheeks, and around the anus and areolae of the nipples.

Special large sebaceous-type glands on the inner surface of the prepuce, called Tyson’s glands, produce smegma. Other large sebaceous glands, called the glands of Zeiss, are found along the free borders of the eyelids associated with the eyelashes.

Sweat glands are of two major types: eccrine and apocrine. The eccrine glands are present in large numbers over the entire skin, extending deep into the corium and sometimes even deeper. Each eccrine gland consists of a single, long, epithelium-lined, blind tubule. The lower secretory portion is coiled into a ball-shaped conglomerate, while the upper ductal portion spirals up through the epidermis to the surface sweat pore.

Besides the secretory and ductal epithelium, the sweat glands have an outer layer of contractile myoepithelial cells, which are in turn surrounded by a thin, ground-substance basement membrane and by nerves and blood vessels. The diameter of the lumen or cavity of the eccrine sweat tubule varies from 5 to 20 microns (1 micron = approximately 1/25,000 inch).

The apocrine glands are found only over a few areas, such as the armpits, perineal and pubic regions, about the nipples, and occasionally on the abdomen and chest. The ducts of the apocrine glands usually open into follicles rather than independently onto the skin surface. They have about ten times the diameter of the eccrine ducts. The number of glands of both types in the skin has been estimated at between 2 and 15 million, with a total combined tubular length of about 8 miles.

The ceruminal glands of the ear canals, which secrete cerumen or earwax, and Moll’s glands of the eyelids can be considered as specialized types of apocrine glands.

Eye Makeup for Guys — the way to get new admirers

Posted in Makeup Products by Clayton Yonker on November 24, 2011

I was in town a couple of days ago with my old lady. She was looking around in a department store for a new eyeshadow for the upcoming Thanksgiving party and I was kind of loitering nearby. I got talking to a lady at one of the cosmetic counters and she asked if I’d be interested in eye makeup for men.

Me? I wasn’t going to wear no eye makeup, for men or not for men.

She said it wasn’t like I thought and showed me some products by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Mascara and eyeliner for men. I agreed to try, since she said no one would notice I was wearing it. Okay, she actually said I’d get the kind of piercing eyes women love — yeah, that’s why I agreed.

So, she put the eye makeup on me (I thought she’d blind me with that eyeliner) and presto! I was indeed a good looking guy all at once. I said I’d buy, but when she told me the price — no way was I paying that!

Then the saleswoman let me into a secret. She said there’s no need to buy this stuff, just an eyeliner in bronze or brown and eyebrow gel that could also be used on the lashes. She said it was exactly the same as what Jean-Paul Gaultier was charging 20 times the amount for.

A few hours later, my wife said there was something different about me. I asked if the difference was good or bad. She said it was definitely good.

She still doesn’t know what the difference is, because I’m not telling. And now I’ve got even more skilled at applying eye makeup for guys. And I’m getting new admirers every day — women love it!

Become An Esthetician And Feel Good About Your Job

Posted in Beauty Therapy by Clinton Maddalena on November 21, 2011

If you enjoy making people look good and feel more confident about themselves consider a career as an esthetician.  Becoming a licensed esthetician and learning how to use specific esthetician equipment will allow you to help others improve their appearance and feel better about themselves.  The confidence they get from this can have a lasting effect.

To become a licensed esthetician you will need to get proper training. The training involves body and Skin Care, hair removal as well as the basic fundamentals of make up.  The exact training will vary based on the specialty you choose and the type of degree you want.  Training can be as quick as 6 months or as long as 2 years.

You will then need to become licensed in the state in which you want to work.  This licensing requires you pass both a written and a practical test.  The license will need to be renewed once every two years to ensure you are current on practices and techniques.

To broaden your appeal to prospective employers it is good to train in a number of techniques and specialties.  Specialties include but are not limited to make up application, skin therapy, basic facials, eyebrow dying or body waxing.  The general curriculum will also focus on nutrition, human anatomy, skin anatomy, sterilization essentials and basic professionalism.

The salary you can expect will depend on the place of work and the services they offer as well as the geographic location and clientele.  This career provides a great deal of flexibility, especially if you are up to date on new services.  You can work in a number of settings from a cutting edge salon to a spa in a resort area.  Or you can even start your own business with some basic equipment, a good location and some basic business training.

Being an esthetician allows you to work with people and empower them to look and feel their best.  Now that’s a career you can feel good about.

Your Health and Wellbeing Is Important So Get Checked Today

Posted in Health And Wellbeing by Cody Vanriper on November 21, 2011

When did you have your last check up with your doctor? Your health and well being is important and you should get checked out at least every couple of years.  If you are a female, you should have an in-depth physical exam every year.  The earlier you catch most illnesses the better but in cases where these illness can affect fertility, it is vitally important that they are diagnosed early.

So what should your physical involve?  At the very least you should have a long chat with your doctor and highlight any concerns you may be having. You know your body better than anyone else. Your doctor should arrange a pap screen and perhaps an ultrasound.  A vaginal ultrasound can help diagnose common but painful conditions that could impact on fertility.

Don’t worry as you will be in good hands with the ultrasound technician and the technology doesn’t hurt or cause any damage. Depending on the type of scan being done, it may be slightly uncomfortable and a little embarrassing but compared to childbirth and other issues us females go through it is a walk in the park.  Your technician is very well qualified and trained to help your physician diagnose and treat any conditions you may have.

So try to relax and remember that getting checked out is the best way to look after your health. Don’t leave it until symptoms first appear or existing ones get worse.

Tips For Choosing The Very Best Anti Aging Creams

Posted in Makeup Products by Mathew Bachelor on November 21, 2011

When shopping for a wrinkle cream, wether that be at a local medispa, department store or online, there are a few things you should consider before you open your wallet and hand over your credit card.

The anti aging industry is a huge one, and it’s built on profit, not helping men and women reduce the visible signs of wrinkles on their faces. Because of this it can be easy to get scammed and waste a whole bunch of money without evening know it.

So how can you protect yourself and find the best anti wrinkle cream? Keep these five points in mind while shopping and you should do just fine.

  1. How Effective is It? This is a difficult thing to do when you’re shopping at a local retail outlet, but I’d advise anyone to take some time to research which ever brand or product you’re considering buying online before you spend a dime. Reading customer reviews and testimonials is an excellent way to determine the actual effectiveness of a product.
  2. How Soon Before I See Results? While the effectiveness is of upmost importance, how quickly you’ll see those results should be known as well. The biggest mistake made by women using anti aging creams is not sticking to the routine suggested by the manufacturer and giving up too soon before they see results.
  3. Ingredient List. Wrinkle creams aren’t just some magical substance, rather they’re a formulated list of active anti aging ingredients that have been tested and proven to reduce certain signs of aging. Know what active ingredients are best in anti wrinkle creams. Look for ingredients such as DMAE, Matrixyl and Argireline.
  4. Safety. It’s always a good idea to ensure that the product you’re trying is indeed safe to apply to your skin. This isn’t so much of an issue when shopping locally at a spa or department store. However products online are not as easily regulated. Be sure to do your homework on the ingredients and company. Usually a quick search will turn up any issues with a product.
  5. Value and Quantity. Evaluating raw value for an anti wrinkle cream is tough since what works for one women may not work for another. However it is possible that you can evaluate a product based on what other women have experienced and the quality of ingredients used in the product and then consider how much each tube/jar costs and what volume of cream is included. Often times you’ll find a product that contains more cream with similar ingredients for a lower price, there by making it a better value.

Be sure not to rush when purchasing an anti aging cream. Most women find a product they like and stick with it. While it may take some time to find that product which you like, it’ll all be worth it when you can depend on a particular brand each month rather then having to play the constant guessing game.

Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 Electric Shaver

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Lance Grinstead on November 18, 2011

Everyone knows Philips Norelco as an established maker of rotary head razors, as opposed to the foil-head shavers that Braun make. The Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 electric shaver is currently one of their high end models that will cost you anywhere between $250 and $350, depending on where you buy it from (on-line is a lot cheaper), so let’s examine what you get for your money.

The SensoTouch 3D range is made up of 4 similar razors that vary only slightly in functionality. Norelco do however use different colors for ease of identification – there are also two other razors in the SensoTouch range without the 3D feature. The 3d feature refers to the three dynamic parts that move independently from each other (outwards, inwards and pivoting around) and constitute the rotary head of these units.

This allows you to experience excellent contouring of the face meaning that pressing hard against the skin is not necessary and is a great selling point in terms of the comfort and smoothness of the shave overall.

The bits that do most of the work are the shaving heads, and they’re designed to use the patented “UltraTrack” system – this cuts any length of hair at its base in only a few strokes. There are channels in the shaving heads to take care of longer beard growth, and holes that takes care of the shorter stubble, this means that the 1280cc/42 can tackle most length of beards and growth.
