What Kind of Bath Robe Should You Bring to a Spa?

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Cody Vanriper on February 14, 2012

There’s nothing like a trip to the spa. You can spend hours simply relaxing in therapeutic settings, get a massage to relieve stress, and everyday aches and pains. The problem some people have with getting a massage is that they don’t like the idea of lying half naked on a table. This is why spa bathrobes can be quite handy. Since there are so many styles of bath robes available, how do you know which one will be appropriate for a visit to the spa?

Spa robes are made from different materials. There are luxurious spa robes made with cotton terry on the lining and micro fiber on the outer shell. There are also Egyptian and Turkish cotton robes available, which offer good water absorption. If you’re going to spend a lot of time lounging near the baths or Jacuzzis, then an Egyptian or Turkish cotton robe is ideal. Cashmere robes are considered to be highly luxurious and sophisticated. These are ideal for spas located at winter resorts.

If you’re planning on getting a massage, then you’ll need a robe that will allow you to uncover your shoulders, while still maintaining modesty. A spa wrap towel is a good option, since it’s sleeveless and only comes down to the thighs. You don’t need a robe with a collar or hood if you want a massage.

You will need a robe with durable stitching. After all, you don’t want it to tear up in the washer. You should be able to wear it often without worrying about tears or rips. A robe with double stitching is always a good choice.

Bath robes vary in style. The right style for you depends on your own personal preferences. Just make sure that the fabric and design are ideal for the type of spa you wish to visit.

As long as you keep these factors in mind, you should be able to find the right bath robe for your spa trip!

Makeovers as Fundraising Ideas

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Mathew Bachelor on January 30, 2012

Have you ever thought of makeovers as fundraising ideas? Unique fundraiser ideas are sometimes hard to come by because so many clubs and schools hold so many fundraisers every year. As a result, the public becomes over saturated with fundraisers, in general, so to pique their interest, you need some fun and unique fundraising ideas. Makeovers could easily turn into a great fundraiser event.

If your club has its own building, holding a makeover session will be pretty easy to do. If your club is trying to make money for charities, you might be able to enlist a few professionals to offer their services for free, or at least at a reduced rate. Of course, you wouldn’t necessarily have to have professionals for everything you offer at your makeup sessions.

What all should you provide for your paying customers? I would suggest haircuts and hair styling, pedicures and manicures, facials, and makeup tips. You might also want to provide a person to give tips on how to dress well for body shape, along with the best colors and shades to wear for an individual’s skin tone and overall coloring. Another good idea would be to have someone with a variety of accessories, including handbags, totes, jewelry, scarves, and sunglasses. These vendors could bring their products and give your club a cut of their sales income. You could do the same with any makeup that’s sold at the fundraiser, too.

To make these makeover fundraising ideas really enjoyable, set the scene to make it seem more like a relaxing spa experience. Have some soft music playing in the background, and make sure your patrons feel “spoiled.” Offer them a glass of wine, along with some cheeses, crackers, and fruits. You want your customers to really enjoy their experience so that your club will gain a good reputation for its fundraisers.

Growing Out Your Hair

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Cody Barkan on January 24, 2012

hair

About a month ago I went to my hair stylist to get a hair cut.  I have always had long hair and decided to try something new this time.  I told my hair stylist that I wanted to have short hair.  Since I have been a client of my hair stylist for a long time, she asked if I really wanted to cut my hair short.  I told her that I wanted to give it a try and see what would happen.  Without asking me any further questions, she began cutting my hair.  After she had cut off my hair and styled it accordingly, she gave me the mirror for me to check out my new style.  When I looked in the mirror, I was horrified.  It seemed to me that having short hair was not a good look for me.  I felt like I had made the biggest mistake of my life by choosing to have my hair cut short.  I was close to crying when my hair stylist told me that I could quickly grow my hair out.

She recommended that I use Caribbean Hair Grow.  The Caribbean Hair Grow is a bottle of pills that are full of different types of nutrients like vitamins.  All these nutrients are formulated to help people grow their hair faster.  I decided to give this product a shot since I had nothing to lose.  After about a month, much of my hair had grown back.  I was really amazed at what those pills could do.

Should You Consider Hair Implantation To Deal With Thinning Problems

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Cody Vanriper on January 16, 2012

Thinning hair and hair loss in women used to be something that was not talked about in polite company.  That is, if a woman was experiencing a problem with her hair the fact was supposed to be kept under wraps, literally.  The only choice she had to deal with this problem was to buy a wig and pretend like everything was OK.

This is no longer acceptable for today’s women because they do not want to be tied down to sitting around worrying about whether or not their wig is going to fall off.  They want to be out there living life and doing things their mothers and grandmothers only dreamt of.

Will Hair Implantation Help You

Hair implantation has been used for male hair loss since the 1950’s.  Most of the results in the early years were not very acceptable but new techniques kept being devised and by the 1990’s a technique called direct hair implants was developed which made it possible to transplant individual hairs.  This gave much better results than the old method of removing slivers of scalp from one area and then sewing them in another.

When women start to lose their hair it can happen in two distinct ways.  First, they will see thinning over their entire scalp.  This problem does not lend itself to hair implantation techniques because there is no area with thick hair left to act as a donor site.  The second problem, patches of balding, can be dealt with effectively because hair shafts from unaffected areas can easily be transplanted into the thinning areas thus giving the appearance of a full head of hair again.

The first step to determine if you are a good candidate for this type of hair implant surgery is for you to talk to your primary care physician and ask for a referral to a hair clinic.  Your doctor can help you make the correct choices.

Practical and Elegant Hairstyles to Glam Up the Holiday Season

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Mathew Bachelor on November 28, 2011

It’s Christmastime once again and for many of us, this season is tantamount to indulgence, from buying gifts for friends and loved ones to going away on a holiday trip. Additionally, this season is also the time for parties, soirees and family gatherings which only means that you need to constantly look your best.

But as this is also the busiest time of the year, keeping your hair tamed and properly coiffed can be quite a challenge which is why we have asked the help of Salon 9309 to sum up the easiest and most attractive hairstyles perfect for spreading the holiday cheers.

In choosing the right hairstyle for you, you also need to factor in your personality and lifestyle. This allows you to be comfortable with your hairdo as well as keep your personality intact in spite of your extra glamorous look.

1.     For women on the go – if you are someone who always needs to be in two places at one time, then you don’t have much time to spare on styling your hair. As such, you will need to multi-task. While prepping up to prepare your children to school, you can put on your hot rollers and work your way through your daily chores. By the time you’re done, you can simply undo your curlers and add on a few touch-ups to give it an elegant look. As you probably do not have the time to regularly visit a salon, make sure to also check on the best hair products in your area to help maintain your hair’s natural shine, the product line of Pureology in Oklahoma City, for instance, can help ensure beautiful hair without much fuss.

2.     For women who loves getting dolled up – if you love looking extra fabulous every time you step out of the house, consider setting your hair in elegant curls and give them an extra boost of fashion by clipping on a trendy pin or hairclip.

3.    For the adventurous women – if you prefer to go against the norm and still look fashionably chic, considering getting a pixie cut ala Emma Watson. To style your short hairdo, simply comb through it and apply a hairstyling gel to keep your locks in place.

Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 Electric Shaver

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Lance Grinstead on November 18, 2011

Everyone knows Philips Norelco as an established maker of rotary head razors, as opposed to the foil-head shavers that Braun make. The Philips Norelco 1280cc/42 electric shaver is currently one of their high end models that will cost you anywhere between $250 and $350, depending on where you buy it from (on-line is a lot cheaper), so let’s examine what you get for your money.

The SensoTouch 3D range is made up of 4 similar razors that vary only slightly in functionality. Norelco do however use different colors for ease of identification – there are also two other razors in the SensoTouch range without the 3D feature. The 3d feature refers to the three dynamic parts that move independently from each other (outwards, inwards and pivoting around) and constitute the rotary head of these units.

This allows you to experience excellent contouring of the face meaning that pressing hard against the skin is not necessary and is a great selling point in terms of the comfort and smoothness of the shave overall.

The bits that do most of the work are the shaving heads, and they’re designed to use the patented “UltraTrack” system – this cuts any length of hair at its base in only a few strokes. There are channels in the shaving heads to take care of longer beard growth, and holes that takes care of the shorter stubble, this means that the 1280cc/42 can tackle most length of beards and growth.

An Ancient Oil Restored My Hair

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Ted Blass on November 16, 2011

I’m a self-professed hair dye junkie.  I have colored my hair every color under the sun — and want to try a few more!  Unfortunately, the endless coloring started to take a huge toll on my hair.  It turned into what I can only describe as a weird elastic with a dry, rough texture.  When I would run a comb through my hair, it would catch on the comb and would stretch out like a rubber band until it finally snapped.  It was not a good situation.

I finally couldn’t take it anymore, so I went online to find a solution to my problems.  After hours of searching, I stumbled upon a restorative oil called mira hair oil.  It’s an ancient formula that has been around for over 5,000 years and consists of all natural ingredients.  After destroying my hair with chemicals for so long, I knew that natural was the only way to go.

When I received the oil, I put two quarter-sized amounts (about a teaspoon each) on my hair, massaged it in, and waited anywhere between 20 minutes and overnight.  Slowly, as the weeks passed, my hair started to improve in quality.  After two months, I started to recognize my hair as the hair I used to love!  I couldn’t believe it.

Since then, I’ve told all of my friends and family (and maybe a few strangers too) about the benefits of mira hair oil.  A few of my friends are totally hooked now too.  If you’re experiencing hair loss or poor quality hair, I suggest that you try out mira hair oil.

The Horror of Dip Dye Hair

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Javier Convery on November 15, 2011

There’s a strange trend that’s been emerging in the last couple of years, and it seems as if it’s about to go critical: dip dye hair.

I remember my old grunge days in the mid nineties, a time when I rocked a long, unkempt mess of dip dye hair around the dirty streets of New York.  My hair colour changed more often than my underwear, and my parents despaired (understandably).  It was a rough time, fashion wise, and for several years I persisted with dip dye hair in every shade of the rainbow.

I thought I’d left this unfortunate trend behind in the mists of my twenties, but it seems a new generation of youngsters has adopted the style – front and foremost the celebrities on the cutting edge of fashion (if only they knew).  For a couple of years we’ve seen the likes of Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Kelly Osborne et al rocking the dip dye look, and while I hoped this would be a fly by night trend it seems as if it’s here to stay.

Anyway… as it seems as if we’re not gonna get rid of dip dye hair any time in the near future I just have one piece of advice.  Ladies: for the love of all that is holy, get your hair dyed by a professional.  I’ve seen too many beautiful heads of hair destroyed by at-home experiments.

Inexpensive and Good Quality Flat Iron

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Javier Convery on November 14, 2011

I will be going to my cousin’s wedding next week and I wanted to look my best.  I had already bought the dress and the shoes and now the only thing left to do was my hair.  I was thinking about going to the hair salon so I called up the local salon to see how much it would cost to style my hair.  They told me it would cost 150 dollars.  I was taken aback by the cost and I knew that I would not be able to afford it.  I currently work at a minimum wage job so it is hard for me to save any money.

I decided the best thing to do would be to buy my own flat iron and style my own hair.  I figured flat irons would be much cheaper and I could use it any time that I wanted.  I first went to the mall to see if I could find the hair straightener.  The mall was selling the CHI hair straightener but the price was pretty expensive.  I wasn’t willing to spend that much money.  So I started checking online for good deals and I was finally able to find the HSI flat iron.  This flat iron had many great reviews and the best thing about it was that it was not expensive at all.  It cost less than 50 dollars which was something that I could easily afford.  With all these good things going for the HSI 1″ Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron Hair I went ahead and bought it.

How to Build an Exercise Routine

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Tyrone Appleberry on November 13, 2011

So, you want to exercise, but not sure where to start? First, know that if you do some exercise then you are ahead of most people who do no exercise. If you are not used to exercising then you must start small. Walking and swimming are the best gentle exercises. In fact, walking or swimming for half an hour 3-4 times a week is a really good level of exercise for the non-professional. If 30 minutes is too strenuous, then start with 15 or 20.

Exercising with a friend gives you more motivation than exercising alone, but if your friend can’t make it one day, do you still have the motivation to exercise alone?

Consider Personal Training Courses if you are starting a serious exercise regime to see what you are able to do. A personal trainer will help you get started and push you beyond what you think you are able to do.

You don’t have to join a gym to get fit, but if you do, you will find lots of help there. Many personal trainers work through health and fitness clubs, or you can join a get fit class, get fit and make some friends at the same time.
