Mom and Daughter Time at the Spa

Posted in Beauty Therapy by Cody Barkan on October 30, 2011

Spending time together in a shared activity is a really important and effective way of strengthening the bond between mother and daughter.

As your girl enters her tweens and then teenage years she will face many tough choices, changes and challenges. A strong relationship with her mother will mean she always has someone to confide in and trust.

But sadly for many girls, their own mom can seem like a stranger.

When girls are young and content to play in their room with their Barbie toys, or dollies it is tempting to just leave them to it and get on with your chores – especially as these games can seem boring. This is the beginning or creating distance between you instead of closeness.

Instead you should take just a few minutes a day to get down to your daughter’s level and play whatever game she chooses. Let her be in control of the game, and show her that you are interested in what she likes and enjoy spending time in her company.

When your daughter is older, you can bring her into your world for a special treat. Book some time in together at a spa, where you can enjoy a shared acvtivity and talk. This will build her trust in your relationship as it shows you are interested in her life and want to spend time with her.

Be sure to pick an activity that focuses on relaxation and well-being rather than beauty – your daughter needs to know that she is beautiful just the way she is and doesn’t need any treatments to improve her appearance.

A spa voucher would make a great gift for older girls for Christmas, especially if you think she is outgrowing all the popular toys.

Getting Rid Of Dry Itchy Skin

Posted in Beauty Therapy by Lance Grinstead on October 22, 2011

I’ve had problems with dry itchy skin for quite a while now and unfortunately I can only expect it to get worse as we move into the dry cold winter months.  So this year I’ve decided to do something about it and hopefully get some relief for my dry itchy skin once and for all.

Over the past few days I’ve done a few searches on the internet looking for information and this is what I’ve come up with.  Probably the best article that I’ve found so far is this one on Relief For Dry Itchy Skin.  It has a lot of good information that I think that most everyone can benefit from so be sure to take a look and let me know what you think.

A couple of things that I figured out was that one I’m not staying hydrated and two I need to quit taking hot baths, especially during the winter time because the hot water dries out your skin.  Another item that I should probably invest in is a good humidifier to help counter act the damage done by the hot dry air from the heaters.  Next the article also mentions different bath products that work best for your skin like different lotions and creams as well as other items like bath bombs.  I’m so glad that I found this article and I’ve since bookmarked the author’s page so that I can go back and read her other stuff at a later time.

What to do about Hooded Eyes

Posted in Makeup Products by Ted Blass on October 19, 2011

It’s an excess of skin that causes hooded eyes. It’s not an unusual problem — some glamorous women have them, like Claudia Schiffer, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger. These are not old women, and they know how to use makeup so that their hooded eyes are less noticeable. But hooded eyes can be caused by ageing. It happens when tissue loses elasticity and the skin starts to hang.

Hooded eyes look much better with concealer in the outer corner of the eye where the hanging skin causes a shadow that makes the eyes look as though they slope downwardly. Another trick is to wear dark eyeshadow on the eyelids. Another one is to darken the crease of the eye if you can find it.

But the best thing to do is use a cream as soon as the eyes start to develop hoods, or before. A good one is Alistin by Clinique.

If the eyes get so hooded that they’re almost covered by the hanging skin, the only thing to do is get plastic surgery. The excess skin is cut away and gone forever. It’s expensive, though, so better to use cream before it happens.

And, as I say, some beautiful women have hooded eyes, so it’s nothing to worry about.

What hairstyle is best for you?

Posted in Slimming & Fitness by Clinton Maddalena on October 15, 2011

Have you ever asked yourself: “What hairstyle is best for me?” If you’re like me, you have probably been pondering this question all your life. But the answer is not a simple one. Is your face round or square? The best hairstyles for round faces are very bad for long faces. And vice versa. There is no use blindly copying the hairstyles of famous people or even people you know who look fabulous. What looks beautiful on your best friend may make you look downright unattractive.

Is your hair long? Is it short? Long hairstyles are more versatile. If your hair is very short, you are pretty much stuck with the shape of your own face. But long hair presents many possibilities to reshape your profile and enhance your best feature.

Do you know how to braid hair? Do you know how to put long, thick hair up into a good bun? These skills are invaluable to a woman, especially if she wants to vary her appearance depending on the social situation. During the day, you will want to keep your hair away from your face and to cultivate a professional, well-groomed appearance. But  at night, when you go out on the town, you will want to look wild and intriguing. With long hair styling, this is something you can achieve with very little effort or expense.
