my mom did… she said it was a great place to go to. she said though for you to take a pic of what you want done and show it to them and thoroughly describe what you want because my brother just said the name Hannah tattooed on his back and the guy spelled it wrong so be sure to describe a lot

Japanese spa – regulation and stuff?
Is there anything in Japanese spas againsted body modification (piercings, tattoos)?
I’m half Japanese but never really had contact with Japanese culture and I want to work at a Japanese spa, but I don’t know if I’m allowed to have body modifications…
I know Japanese usually associate tattoos with Yakuza members, so I still don’t have any, but I have a few piercings…
Please, help me!!
do you mean an onsen or like a beauty spa?
onsens usually require the staff to dress in traditional kimono with formal hair and make up. they will most likely ask you to remove all your piercings. tattoos are becoming more and more common in japan, especially among women, but the older generations (40+ years) still see them very much as a yakuza thing, like you said.
as for beauty spas, they are more western-style so theyll probably be more lenient with piercings, then again it depends on the employer.
