How do you remove a Kensington Combo Lock?
I installed a Kensington Combo Lock on my laptop, I tested my security code first, and then attached it. Before attaching it to the table, I decided to test removing it once. When I went to, I could not open it anymore. Kensington was no help, I tried opening the laptop and that did not help much. I have seen videos on YouTube of people removing other Kensington Locks with pens, etc…, but how can you remove (or break) the combo locks? Thank you.
Tried hammer, its too strong, I might damage the laptop in the process if I hit harder. Might have to try the drill, might be difficult with the lock in the way.
My first suggestion seems simple and the guy that did it said that he could not get a pen to work either. He used a roll of toilet paper shaped with a pen and some tape. It looked very easy and seemed to work flawlessly. I would suggest you try it yourself before walking down the path of destruction.
The destruction method:
I recommend wrapping your laptop in some plastic or paper keeping in mind that you are trying to keep it clean from metal fragments. Again, it is imperative that the laptop be sealed from flying metal fragments.
Next, I strongly suggest using a high speed rotary cutting tool such as a Dremel. Use a metal cutting wheel and have a few extras on hand. Cut the lock at the weakest point or at a location where it will fall apart once cut.
