any ideas for lower back(cushion inbetween gone?

3 injections have been done & PT has been done also. @ wits end.feel like no hope.feel less of a wife and grandma.do need to lose weight, but i just cry

as a chiropractor i see this type of scenario on a daily basis. i’m assuming the ‘cushion’ you are referring to is a disc that is worn away. this causes a problem because you lose the space between the two vertebrae and so there is no room for the nerves that exit between each vertebrae anymore. thus the nerves get ‘pinched’ and you end up with low Back Pain and usually pain, numbness, tingling, etc. into the leg(s)/buttocks. for those who have degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, disc bulging, etc.–normal chiropractic care can usually help with those problems. but there are also many people out there that have had this problem for many years and can’t find relief with anything they try–including chiropractic.

but now there is a treatment that is perfect for that situation and the best part is: it’s non-surgical and non-invasive. if you haven’t heard of it yet it is called spinal decompression. this type of treatment focuses on disc injuries and the problems they cause. i use the DRX9000 spinal decompression system in my office and it works wonders for people with these types of injuries. the DRX9000 is fda approved and is the best decompression system available (there are cheap knock-offs that don’t give the same results).

my recommendation would be to research this treatment and then contact someone (usually a chiro) who uses it in their office. i would just google “DRX9000″ to find info on it and doctors in your area who may have it. this treament is able to encourage the disc to go back to it’s normal orientation and also rebuild its height–which then takes the pressure off whatever nerve it is compressing.

this treatment is extremely effective for degenerative disc disease, disc bulging, herniation, etc. and also sciatica type of cases, especially if you haven’t had surgery yet. i’ve had many patients who were scheduled for surgery, tried this treatment as a last resort, and then ended up cancelling their surgery altogether after treatment was completed. it really does work and that’s what my recommendation would be for you, especially since it seems you have exhausted all other options.. good luck and hopefully this gives insight to others experiencing similar problems–there is a solution!!!

What do they call those chairs that have no bottom part, but just a back support & armrest (cushions)?

It’s kind of like a floor chair, but its just a cushion that doesn’t have any seat. I want to put this on my futon that’s extended out so I can stretch my legs and be comfortable without having to fold it back up.

I think I know what you’re talking about. They are commonly called a “husband”, because of the way you snuggle back into them. I’m not sure of their real name, probably something boring like tv seat, or backrest.

Eye Remove
Are me eyes supposed to go red when i remove eye makeup?

I use black mascara, black eyeliner (on the top and bottom), but when i remove it, it takes me ages and my eyes always end up really red.

Is there any way to stop this and for me to get it off easily? My mascara isn’t waterproof so i;ve tried taking it off with water but it doesn’t work. Cleanser wipes don’t work either. I always end up rubbing around my eyes to get it off and then i’m left with red eyes.

So basically what can I use to get it off easily?

wow. this used to happen to me.

you will need:
2 cotton pads for cosmetics
baby oil (if you dont have it, you can get it at any drugs store
for under 5$)

1. pour some baby oil on one cotton pad. but make sure its wet.
2. using that, rub it gentally on your eyes, with your eyes closed.

3 if you have to get stuff off the bottom lid, fold the cotton pad in half and use the crease to clean your bottom lid with your eyes open.

repeat those 3 steps with the other cotton pad.

i use baby oil because it is very gentle, like for a baby. :)

What is the best thing to use to remove eye liner, mascara, and eye shadow?

Something that doesn’t make your eye hurt or hurt your eye, whether it gets in your eye or not. And please only suggest things you have tried that work well.

I use Mary Kay eye makeup remover. You just put a bit on a cotton square, hold it in place over your eye for 10-15 seconds then wipe it off. Best one I’ve ever used.

Question about volts, adapters, and electrical items?

I have misplaced the adapter for my massage pillow. Near the slot for the adapter it says “12V DC”.

It it okay if I use a 9V DC adapter instead?

Might sound stupid but I have a theory why it might work. Just making sure to avoid possible explosions and such.

no, you need a 12 VDC adaptor, and one that has enough current capability, and good enough regulation to match the original.

Go back to the manufacturer and get a new one.

Infant massage… your thoughts?

I’m taking my 6.5 month old daughter to an infant massage class tonight. When I registered for the class the lady gave me a quizical look when I told her my daughter’s age. Do you think she is too old to be massaged?

I guess she might get annoyed at the class. Laying on her tummy will make her want to crawl off and grab things…

Your thoughts? Tips? Is she too old? I think she will enjoy it and relax. I’m going to bring my bed pillow for her to lay on. I think my scent will help her relax and hold still.

I have started massaging my baby on my own – without any class or anything. I made it part of her bedtime “routine”, though I don’t know how good I am at it. I guess the infant massage class is more for younger babies? Ehhh…who cares. You’ll learn some new techniques and things that you can do to help soothe your daughter maybe. I think you’re fine.

What’s the best non toxic water based acrylic paint for decorating wooden tables that will be used for meals?

I would like to paint children’s designs on tables that will be used in a magical classroom for eating on. I suppose they will have to be sealed with a water based polyurethane of some sort, but mostly I need to know the best brand of paints to get the most beautiful colors. Any experienced furniture painters out there?

I used liquitex brand acrylics when painting a table for a local coffee shop and it turned out beautifully. Personally I find golden brand acrylics too thick but their colors are wonderful. Liquitex is a little thinner which is good for covering large areas. I’ve never had much of a problem with fading over time either. For the most part acrylic paints are pretty non-toxic to my knowledge, also whatever coating you put on the table to protect the paintings will provide a protective barrier against any leeching of pigments.

The only thing I will caution you against is that the knot holes in the wood actually shows through the paint over time. When I did my project If I had primed the table with a good coat of gesso that could have been avoided, so prime your tables well :)

What minimum temperature is required for water-based primer to dry?

I’ve been caught inside for days now because of bad weather, but I actually want to paint the house. My next step is priming the doors and window frames with water-based primer. The weather is stormy and wet, with temperatures between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius. The doors and window frames would be dry though, as they are under the roof. Can I just go ahead, or is it going to turn into a mess?

It is too cold and damp for the primer to dry correctly. The surface will dry before the primer has a chance to adhere to the surface properly. In other words, go find something else to do. How about painting indoors for a while?

What size tank should i get for a begginer? How much gallons? Do i need to buy a tank built with a light, hood?

I love fish! i think there really pretty and relaxing. So i planned to buy a fish tank. But think its too much work cleaning the tank and scrubbing the tank. And there are soo many equipments and products like food, gravel, gravel cleaner, filter, pump,airstone,lights,ornaments.. i need to buy !!!!

how much would it cost me apporximately?

I would buy a kit that has most of the things you need. A 10 gallon is a nice size for a beginner until you see if you like keeping fish. Most pet stores and even Walmart have packaged kits that include the tank with hood & lights, the filter, sometimes a heater, and some other accessories to get you started.

You really don’t need a pump and airstone with your tank if you have a hang on back type filter. You’ll need to get a gravel vacuum though but they are only about $4 for a small one.

Once you get your tank you will need to cycle it before you add fish. http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/misc/fishlesscycling.html

Do some research on the types of fish you want. A basic rule of thumb is to put about 1″ of fish per gallon of water. Not that you can put a 10″ fish in a 10 gallon tank but you could have 5 guppies, or 4 platies or 3 mollies. That idea based on their adult size.

Gift for someone undergoing a minor surgery?

For complicated health reasons, my dad has to undergo a vasectomy next week. I can’t figure out what to get him as a “get well” gift. Here is some information:

*not into sports or music
*buys all electronic or technological equipment himself (one year he made me return the Massage Chair I got him!)
*really likes plants
*I’d like to leave the gift certificates as the last resort

I’m not sure what kind of pain/discomfort he’ll be in post-surgery, so I don’t know what kind of “relaxing/pampering” gift would be appropriate…

Any suggestions?
Hugs and well wishes are great, but we’re from a pretty traditional Chinese family and we don’t show affection for one another via words or physical touch–usually it’s only through gifts or actions…that’s why this gift is so important! (And we have TONS of plants/flowers around the house already…but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to get him that because he will like it for sure…)

besides giving your dad HUGS and WELL WISHES,…..why don’t you try to give him Chinese bamboo…They are small and don’t grow much..they look very preety and remain live for atleast 4-5 years….Their significance in China is that IT MAKES A PERSON HEALTHY AND WEALTHY (thats why its holy)..

let me know what did U choose..

where can i get 220 volts plug-in products?

Hi,

I’m looking to purchase some gifts to my relations in India with 220 volts plug’s. Where can i get the one. Is there is any retail shops in San Antonio or any reliable online shopping holds these items, where i can get the product with 220 volts.

Looking for back charger dual zone massage cushion, Automatic blood pressure monitor, Waffle iron, Therapist Select™ Shiatsu Foot Massager, proctor silex indoor grill, conair moist king size heating pad…

Also suggest me, which other products brands that are really effective apart from the brands i have listed above.. Suggestions are welcome

Regards
Subashini

I would doubt you could, at least not from dodgy grey market shops which would offer no better product than they can probably buy domestically themselves.

Get them non electrical gifts, or gift certificates for Indian retailers of such products.

Can a fellow CMT help me w/ ergonomics?

I am six feet tall, long-legged and long-waisted, and thus I have a terrible time staying in a kneeling lunge while doing shiatsu; to deliver straight-arm softening or point-work, I practically have to do the splits to reach my client.

I work primarily on mats because our… lovely facility doesn’t provide low tables.

Anyone know a position that is safe for the back and still gets the job done?

Thank you

Shiatsu kills me too, because I don’t have as much skill when my height is compromised. I give shiatsu on a Massage Table. The only difference is that the pressure isn’t quite as deep, but when I lower my table to the farthest possible position, it is low enough. You can also learn to give table shiatsu – and position yourself on the table. Your client will relax much more easily once you have mastered this and aren’t fumbling around them. Remember they are trying to relax.

If that’s impossible, try the one knee stance. This gives you the right improvised height, with the control and cushion of one bended knee. The other leg can bend with the crus underneath the bent leg. I can’t describe it – too bad I can’t draw a picture.

Roaring Fork Valley Horse back riders!?

I know this is a shot in the dark that anyone from my area ( roaring fork valley- glenwood springs, basalt, carbondale, aspen) would read this but if im lucky : I was wondering if anyone knows of any good trail rides to take my horse on. Hes a little out of shape/ a little green and we are working on getting back into the swing of things so I am looking for a easy, calm, not-populated place to take him where he can just learn to relax and get back into the swing. Thanks so much!

Kelsey, you aren’t far from the Windstar Land Conservancy, and they allow horses on the land there from time to time. I would give them a call and ask about their policies. Windstar is a thousand plus acres of mostly undeveloped wilderness that’s located in the mountains near Snowmass. It was co-founded in 1976 as a school and environmental education center by Akido master Thomas Crum and singer/environmentalist John Denver.( Denver bought the land with the proceeds from some of his early albums and gave it to the Conservancy shortly after he purchased it.) I’ve been to Windstar once, and I know there are trails in the woods and the aspen grove there. If you went with a buddy (which I recommend, because it is dangerous to ride alone in a place like that) then you could probably spend quite a while roaming the trails. There are no roads there except for the driveway that leads into the place, but there is a nice lake on the property where your horse can get a drink. Windstar is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year, including Christmas, and admission is free. ( That was the way Denver wanted it- and what he wanted, he got.) So I would give them a call and find out when you can go. One other note: They do have volunteer work weekends a few times a year at Windstar, such as over the 4th of July weekend. They also operate a mini-camp for kids in the summer. If you don’t want to be around a crowd when you are there, you may want to plan your visit for a quieter time.

Good luck- I hope this helps.

Hot Stone
Would a Hot Stone massage be a good gift for Mother’s Day?

My mom never had a massage done and I’m thinking of getting her a gift certificate to the spa to get a Hot Stone massage done. Do you think she’ll like it??

I think that is a pretty sweet idea. Whatever you give your mother, she will appreciate it and know that it is the thought that counts. I am making my mom a mix CD, full of songs that she likes, and songs that I like and I think will have a meaning to her. I also put a bunch of songs on it from my childhood, like a lullaby song called Greensleeves. I used to get to sleep by that song. Do you think this is a good idea? I hope that your mom likes her massage. It is very relaxing, I have heard. Good luck!
