Massager Hot
A thing called The Amazing Hot Heart Massager, you snap a metal disk in it & it heats up. How does it work?

The Amazing Hot Heart Massager is a gel-filled, heart shaped pack used to give massages. There is a small metal disk floating in the gel, when you bend the disk, it snaps and the gel around the disk quickly heats up, turns to a crystalised material, and the heat quickly spreads through out the whole gel pack.
It stays hot for about an hour, then gets kind of hard. To reset it, you drop the pack into a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes. I’m sure there’s some sort of scientific explanation of it, I hope someone knows what I’m talking about and can tell me how it works.

I love this process. The liquid in the bag is most likely sodium acetate (added to salt ‘n vinegar potato chips to give them their tang -mmmm) as a super saturated solution. Most solids dissolved in water will increase their concentration as you raise the temperature of the water (think iced tea and hot tea). Some few substances will dissolve much more at a higher temperature than at room temperature and then not crystallize as you cool them down. Sodium acetate is such a chemical, sodium thiocyanate is one also, but is more toxic than sodium acetate. The function of the button in the bag was a puzzler to me until I looked up the patent. The button has a slit cut in it so that when you flex it you drive a stream of liquid up into the bulk of the solution upseting it and leading to the crystallization of the material. Just like you have to add heat to the crystallized supersaturated solution to get it to go back into solurion, the reverse,. coming out of solution gives heat back. Kind of like a heat battery. Neat stuff. Try putting “supersaturated sodium acetate” on a search engine.

Question about Darvocet-N 100 Tab and Aspirin Please Help??

I have Horrible Headaches and Severe Back Pain from an injury at work and I am concerned about taking pain medicine. I had a blood test about a year ago and it came back normal for my kidney’s and liver. I take Headache Relief from walmart it has Aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine. And I take the Darvocet for the back pain and sometimes for the headaches. Also my urine changes from dark yellow to clear. Whats going on??? Also if you know of any natural alternative for pain would be helpful??? I have tried heat, cold, bio-freeze, icy hot, and massager’s, they help sometimes but very minimal. Thank you for your help :)

your urine changes color depending on how much you are drinking. clear is good, not dehydrated. If it stays dark no matter how much you drink, that is one symptom of liver disease.
The aspirin acetaminophen and caffeine is not a very good idea in my opinion.
Take either or, not both. All the caffeine does is make it work faster and you can become addicted to caffeine and then get headaches from withdrawl of that.
Have you considered massage therapy or chiropractic exam for the injury at work?
That can sometimes do more good than more medications.
Physical therapy might also be worth looking into.
While “natural” pain medications may be out there, fixing the cause of the pain might be worth looking into first.
You may also be suffering from rebound headaches, which are from taking too much pain medication or taking too low of a dose too often.
IF your last doctors appointment was a while ago, it might be worth it to have another one and share your concerns with him.

c section wound open up?

I had a c section one month ago, and i started a Traditional Massage to slim down my tummy and to remove “wind”. The lady gave me a corset-like garment to tighten my tummy in the day. it is very tight and it sit just above my wound. but last night my wound hurts alot from inside(exterior looks ok,dried up and sealed) and it hurts even worst when i sneeze or cough. does anyone know whether this is a symptom of wound opening up? has anyone encounter before? what shall i do?
thanks for all the answers, yes i did have post op antibiotics and the corset is provided by the masseuse. the massage did help to slim down though.

If the wound begins to swell, discolor or begins to ooze any greenish or yellow fluid you need to go to the Dr. I wouldn’t wear the corset right now… It may be putting too much pressure on the area… Remember when they did the c-section they cut through several layers of muscle and then your uterus to get to the baby and had to sew their way back out… You’ve been pretty abused down there… I think the corset is a bad idea right now… If your pain gets worse you need to call your Dr. Are you on any post op antibiotics?

How to lose weight in your face and neck?

I don’t have a fat face or a fat neck, I just have a real fear of getting them. Shallow and vain I know, but I’ll do what I can to prevent it. Any exercise or diet plans I can follow to make sure I don’t get podgey in any of these areas?

You can’t. You cannot lose weight on one part of your body.

If you lose weight, you will lose it on your entire body at once. There is no such thing as spot weight loss.

why does my face burn after having a spa facial?

spa facial

You should warn the person in charge of your facial about this, he/she is probably using some product with something you might be allergic to or your skin is way too sensible. Anyways it’s not ok to have those reactions, you might be causing a serious damage to your skin.

How does a steam room, spa or hot tub help fitness?

My gym has a steam room, spa and a hot tub….what advantages do these have to helping fitness? Every club seems to have them.

It helps you relax and loosen any tense muscles. All sweating does is make you lose water weight. So fitness-wise, relaxation is its only benefit.

Would you recommend using a water bed heater under an inflatable spa?

I am planing to buy a portable inflatable spa and planning on putting it in my spare room in my house with ventilation. It doesn’t have a heater and someone told me to use a water bed heater under it. Would that damage the vinyl on the underside of the spa or damage my non carpeted vinyl tile floor?

A spa inside the house in not a very good idea. The humidity level will be sky high, mold will start to grow and if it leaks, well you will have mess, make sure your home owners insurance covers any damage. If the heater is not on a GFI you could get the shock of your life

Facial Massage
Which would you prefer: a massage or facial?

I am looking to get a gift certificate for my mom (she’s in her mid-forties) at a spa. I’m either getting her a massage or an anti-aging firming facial. She undergoes a lot of stress, but she is also becoming self-concious about her “wrinkles”. So, which would you recommend?

Facial. She will love it. Also, if you find a good place, her facial will last for days, feeling smooth and glowing… compared to only hours after a massage.

Massage Chair
What is the best Portable Massage chair on the market?

I need a portable massage chair to use at an office to give short massages. I have used the Stronglite brand and found that it is ok, but I do not like how difficult it is to put back in the case. I think the other brand I have used was Ergo Lite (?) and it didn’t feel stable enough. I want something light weight, stable, easy to set up and break down, and hopefully under $500. Any suggestions are welcome even if they aren’t completely perfect.

Oakworks. They have the best design, best construction, best quality and best ease of use. They cost a little more and weigh slightly more comparatively, but you will enjoy the stability, durability and ease of adjustments it offers. I believe most are under $500 if you don’t get too crazy with upgrades of vinyl, padding or accessories.

You may even be able to find a discounted product from the factory, or a “pre-owned” version on auction sites. Buyer beware, though.

How can I wash a black and white bed blanket so that the black doesn’t fade but the white part is brighter?

I have a large comforter blanket on my bed that is white with a black shadow design all over it. How do I wash the blanket so that I can get the white part of it whiter (it’s starting to look a bit dingy) but so that the black design doesn’t fade? Is there a special detergent or method?

Use Woolite in cold water. It’s a delicate detergent and won’t fade colors.

Different types of toothbrush – Which is better?

I’ve got a toothbrush set today and i’ve got one with soft bristles, firm bristles, and a massager. Which one do you think is better and which is better to remove plaque

Thanks :)

No dentist recommend soft bristles so I would use that one. Firm bristles are too harsh for gums! They will all remove plaque good if you brush two times a day for 2 min and floss! :)
