Vibration Platform
What can you do with a vibrating floor?

We’re a design studio in New York City, and our office is in an old factory building turned office. Our downstairs neighbor has installed a big air conditioning unit, and about half of our floor is impossible to sit on, because of the vibration it’s causing. It’s not a violent vibration, but if you sit on that area, you’d feel seasick after a while. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do? We hear carpet might help. What other options do we have? A platform on top of the floor?

Thanks very much for your time!

All air conditioning systems can be vibration isolated. This process is simple. Your problem is a little more complex because the vibration is not from your equipment.

I would talk to my neighbor and tell him of this situation. They must be experiencing vibration also and if you tell them a remedy is simple and inexpensive maybe you can solve both your problems.

P. S. I do except email.

Physics problem: Kinetics of Oscillation?

1. A vibration platform oscillates up and down with an amplitude of 11 cm at a controlled variable frequency. Suppose a small rock of mass m is placed on the platform. At what frequency will the rock just begin to leave the surface so that it starts to clatter?

I need you help asap please! =)

X = a * sin (2 PI F t)

displacement = 11 , a = 11/2

V = 2 pi f a cos(2 PI F t)
acceleration = – 4 * pi * pi* f^2 a Sin(2 PI F t)

Max acceleration, sin = -1 > 1 g
980.6 cm/s/s = 4 * pi^2* f^2

f = sqrt(980.6/4/pi^2)
