Reach Easy
How come when i sing A Capella its easy to sing, and when i sing with piano its harder to reach certain note?

Hello,
I play piano and realized that once i start singing to a song i am playing, it gets much harder to sing in tune and reach certain notes. When i sing A Capella i hit all the notes correct; whats wrong?

I have the same problem.

When you sing a capella, you have your own notes that your hitting. Usually when you have heard a song many times, you get used to hearing it that exact way, so you sing it that way when you have music to go along with it. But when you’re singing without music you sing it how you want it.

Can anybody recommend an easy tip for making my voice reach high notes?

I want to record my voice but I can’t reach the high notes. Sometimes i can but after a while my voice gets worn out. Does anybody know a quick remedy for me to be able to reach high notes? Thanks in advance!

if you are past your voice change, you will have noticed that the small, thin , boyish sound you had is gone. If you still sing relatively high ( and comfortably so), then you are a tenor. If you have an easier time with the lower notes, a baritone. If you feel most comfortable at the low end of the scale, a bass. Most men in classical singing work for some time to get their full voice to feel comfortable in the high register ( it’s slightly different for each category). For a quick harmless way of reaching those notes, men will change over to their falsetto voice- that same thin boyish sound that you remember from not so long ago… granted, that sound will have very little weight to it, unless you have a good microphone, but it is an actual gear shift in your vocal mechanism, and renders those notes fairly painless.

As the others have already posted, please do not neglect your warm-ups. There are so many people on this site begging to become professional. Think like a pro,act like a pro, and do the warm-ups. A trained marathon runner knows s/he can go past that 42nd kilometer, as a self-confidence measure, so does a pro singer go past the limits of the “song” or piece of music currently in front of him. Those outer edge notes may not be pretty, usable, or even comfortable, but they guarantee that the notes inside the normal range expectancy are.
If you are very very interested in pursuing singing, please allow yourself the wonderful luxury/necessity of singing lessons. All these topics and more await you. As well as a trained instrument that doesn’t wear out quite so fast….
